Not a fan of the fact that he never gets on base. Surprised they gave up on Greene. Its difficult to trade a guy throwing 100 MPH with ease and with a move to the bullpen probably would have been excellent.

Surprised they'd make a trade like this given he doesn't seem to have too high of a ceiling and with all the OF depth already. Selling high on Leone and who knows how good Greene is.

 

Means the Jays OF is basically set and they can spend $ on pitching now.

If he can take a few lessons from Smoak and cut down on the strikeouts he would turn into a pretty nice player. Nice batted ball profile but the BB to K rate is ugly.

This has me scratching my head. I don't mind giving up Greene but I would rather have kept Leone. Perhaps another move pending?

With the price of relief arms on the market, I think we gave up far too much. Leone is coming off of a great season and Greene has the potential to be a dominant relief arm. Grichuk is barely a starting calibre outfielder, if at all, in my opinion.

My guess is Shatkins sees something with his approach that can help him correct his K to BB rate. If he does he'll have a Smoak like improvement and we get a 3 WAR player. If he doesn't he's still a useful player with a close to league average bat and solid defense at all 3 OF positions.

 

Connor Greene's numbers are so bad and while Leone had a good season my guess is he can't repeat it. I like this move.

Its definitely more than I would have thought it would cost to get Randy. It does help that I have zero faith that Greene will turn into anything, even in the BP... but still seems expensive.

 

I am excited about what our team can do with Grichuk tho. Hope for some magic!

end of day, we need all these small solid additions to be buffered by a bigger acquisition. Even if that is a medium term addition like Cobb or Lynn.

Gotta give ourselves a punchers chance of the playoffs while not overburdening ourselves
