(humans have been a global species for thousands of years and The Human Diet does not exist, aside from saying that humans are "opportunivores" and the diet has varied drastically across time, deep time, and geography).

True. Ever seen a domesticated pig in nature? Or a cow? Oops, it's almost like farmed animals are man man through selective breeding!

Rumour has it that they also eat genetically modified grains and other plants as feed. I am shocked by this revelation, shocked!

Are you sure? Everything I've read tells me saliva is generally acidic, and our entire digestive tract sits between 5 and 7 ph, which is acidic. Not massively acidic like a true carnivore, but on the acidic side of the spectrum.

I meant to say *more* alkaline. Just got caught up in my own rhetoric, you know.

So without domesticated farming you wouldn't be able to hunt wild game like wild boar? What a retarded argument. I never said that today's bastardization of commercial livestock wasn't made more convenient. An animal is still an animal however, and you still wouldn't be able to eat oranges in December you idiot even if they did exist (they didn't: oranges are a man-made hybrid).

I have to agree with Grant, this is f***ing funny. How brainwashed could you possibly be to think our digestive system is designed for meat, lmfao. I'll break some of it down for you.

- carnivores have jaws that are designed for shearing with no lateral movement. Humans have jaws that move laterally. Why? This design is for grinding up plant matter.

- Carnivores have sharp teeth designed to tear meat. Most human teeth are fairly flat, again to grind up plant matter.

- carnivores have very short intestinal tracts. This is to avoid the possibility of food rotting in their guts. Herbivores have long digestive tracts with the purpose of extracting as much sustenance from fruits and leaves as possible. Guess which one humans possess? This is also a big reason why a lot of red meat can cause cancer. We aren't designed to eat it and it can rot in the intestines, causing cell degradation.

- carnivore saliva is very acidic. Human saliva is alkaline.

Everything about us screams herbivore. However, I agree with Joe Rogan's take that eating meat is what got us to our current state of being. Omnivores in nature (bears, raccoons, lizards) actually share most traits with carnivores.

You know nothing.

Go eat a giant salad. When you s*** it out, what do you think all the still present plant matter in your feces is? Its undigested plant matter....because we aren't meant to digest it LMFAO. Why do you think the Chinese cook all of their vegetables? Because they understand that its the only way to make it digestible. The problem being that cooking vegetables kills all the nutrients in it anyway. Notice how vegans and vegetarians live off smoothies, juices, etc? All attempts to make plant matter more digestible. You can eat raw meat and absorb all the nutrients from it by comparison, assuming that its real meat (I see that a few of you seem to be shifting the argument towards commercialized grocery meat...no you idiots, humans weren't meant to live off of that either). When I say "meat", I'm talking about a primal diet that would mean healthy wild animals. Not a bioengineered Chicken fed got knows what.

Your digestive tract is nothing like a herbivores. Jesus Christ, our education system is non-existent.

How can we possibly be herbivores when there are something like 7+ essential vitamins/nutrients that are nowhere to be found in plant foods? On the contrary, there is nothing essential to your life that you can't find in some part of the animal (organs, fats, eggs, milk, etc). You are warped into believing that meat is just protein and fats while plants and vegetables provide everything else. Animal liver is loaded with more DIGESTIBLE vitamins and minerals than any plant. Then there is vitamin B12 which only exists in animal products, and seaweed (which in nature is obviously only available to a small population of humans). Creatine, vitamin K, etc, etc. are all the same.

So you eat no fruits or vegetables? Just meat and eggs? Nuts?

The human stomach has a pH of ~1.5, which is extremely acidic. It secretes hydrochloric acid and pepsin. The hydrochloric acid denatures proteins and the pepsin acts as a digestive enzyme, it does nothing to break down plant matter.

Every herbivore has a high pH (ie: alkaline) stomach. They FERMENT plant matter using microorganisms to extract its nutrients, which we do not do. When you ingest raw plants, they don't get broken down enough and end up sitting in your bowels (where you do very little digestion) and hence most of the nutrients are unabsorbed and you end up with shits that visibly look green or have pieces of plant matter. Ever notice how meat, despite being much more dense, never magically shows up undigested in your feces?

So what did everyone have for breakfast today?

Raw t-bone and a side chicken that I butchered at my desk. I hope nobody has plans to use the shitter here this afternoon.

Don't worry, your body is completely evolved to digest meat with 100% efficiency.

After you switch to a carnivore diet you'll never s*** again. It's pretty convenient.

Someone move this to the food thread. It's getting in the way of the 'will Donaldson get traded in the next two days' speculation.

I still think we are on topic here to be honest

I'm sure the Jays FO are having these same discussions internally

Do you have any idea how inconvenient it is to move multiple pages of posts? Ain't nobody got time for that.

You were promoted to mod for a reason. This is it.

Pretty much the only rule I follow on this board is do not get into a debate with metafour. You guys should have learned by now, this is not the first time this dude has gone off like this.

I think the Jays medical staff should request to check Donaldson's fecal matter in the off-season if he is not traded. Good hard healthy turds full of protein- Give the QO.

Lot's of green, romaine lettuce, Iceberg lettuce, Kale, quinoa, soy etc... Let him walk.

By the way, Metafour is correct. You guys calling him loco are like the flat earth crowd making fun of the only guy who was saying the earth is round back in mid-evil times.

I’m sorry, but there’s no way I’m taking nutrition advice from a man who weighs 150 lbs at 6 feet tall.

I'm sure all the doctorate folks at biology universities and stuff like that are in the wrong. Why bother going there when a simple 2 mins read from his posts grants us a medical degree.

Nutrition is tough thing to research fr a person. No matter what you look for, you can find places that tell you it's great and you should be eating it, and other places that tell you it's bad and you should never eat it.

Same thing with veganism, vegetarian, meat/animal products heavy, organic....GMO/non GMO.... you can find any number of places online that tell you how great they are and how bad they are.

Plus, how does a person use the info that all these studies give us? I can't sit through 60 pages of findings and read science-ese to come to my own conclusions.

It doesn't take that much to come up with an educated argument about which diet to follow to be honest. All it takes is balance. Best diet you can follow is the Mediterranean diet which consists of vegetables, grilled meat or fish and (important) a portion of carbs because you need energy. In other words, your plate has to have half of it containing vegetables and then a quarter of proteins and carbs. Just remember that extremism doesn't get you anywhere.

The problem today is that we have processed and fast food that is disrupting the diets. Even the Mediterranean folks don't follow a Mediterranean diet anymore because of these fast food producing chains. And sedentary habits have a lot of impact on it too.

But Bla Bla Bla Bla it's a topic of another thread.

Só about groshens abs...

Well at least the GMO argument is quite settled in that they are incredibly beneficial for humanity.
