Pompey coming up makes sense but Ursrhela doesn't. Hes not on the 40-man and last thing we need is another infielder even with Solarte gone.

 

If we did happen to remove the two vets from the equation, there would be an opening on the bench and 40 for Urshela to come up and ride the pine as the 25th man.

Apparently hes hurt. Sore back I believe. LGJ also unavailable and wasn't placed on the DL so our bench tonight is Justin Smoak and Dwight Smith Jr.

Team meeting, no big deal.

 

Doesn't really sound like it to me, or at least not the regular kind. We're 5-5 in the second half, which doesn't feel like a typical team meeting type scenario. Combine that with Gibby's comments, and it sounds to me like either there's a tragedy in one of the player's families, or a major trade that hasn't been announced yet. It would be odd to have a regular team meeting after the last game before the trade deadline, where a bad performance is at least somewhat understandable.

Maybe Tulo announced his retirement ? (Why is he in Oakland anyways?)

 

He grew up not too far from Oakland I believe. Probably took advantage of the Jays trip to visit friends and family.

Pretty sure he lives near Oakland, probably just wanted to join the team for a bit before they head out.
