Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted July 19, 2018 Posted July 19, 2018 So, given that Morales hasn't completely sucked for the past month and a bit, is anyone interested in him at the deadline? Obviously we wouldn't get much, but maybe we can swing something like the Liriano deal last year and take back a s*** contract for a better piece?

He'd have to go to an AL team in playoff contention (limits his suitors to 6 teams), and each one of those teams have a better DH than Morales. Even if one of them suffered a season ending injury from now until the deadline they are still more likely to promote from within than to give up anything valuable for Morales or take on his contract.

Sorrow Verified Member Posted July 19, 2018 Posted July 19, 2018 Any idea on call ups now that Pillar and Gurriel are out? I can't imagine they'll run as many arms as they have with a super short bench.

Probably just going to stick with Smith Jr in the OF and maybe call up Urena. Jonathan Davis is an option but Pillar would have to get moved to the 60 day DL or someone like Rowley gets DFA'd.

Vlad and Bo obviously /s As long as he doesn't show any signs of after effects, Gurriel will be back at the weekend anyway. Call up a reliever for Pillar and give Smith Jr a run in the team - he could be the 4th outfielder next year.
Bobthe4th Old-Timey Member Posted July 19, 2018 Author Posted July 19, 2018 Who cares at this point. If you've given up there really is no hope...... We can still prepare for next year and give more prospects / players with uncertain roles some playing time.
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted July 19, 2018 Posted July 19, 2018 DSJ seems like one of those guys who could have a lot of untapped potential if he's reconstruct his swing. He has an advanced approach at that plate + doesn't strike out a lot. I don't care enough to check, but does he have good exit velocity and barrel numbers?

Bobthe4th Old-Timey Member Posted July 19, 2018 Author Posted July 19, 2018 I mean it's just a 4th Of, who's it going to be Pompey? At this point Pompey is a DFA candidate next year when he's out of options, I've basically given up on him. I prefer DSJ for that role personally.

Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted July 19, 2018 Posted July 19, 2018 I was shocked that Pompey was on the roster at any point this year. I thought after 2016 we'd never see him in a Jays uniform again. But ya, he has no future here...or possibly anywhere really.

Yeah it’s a shame really, maybe his brother will be more successful with Miami.

SaskJaysFan_2 Verified Member Posted July 20, 2018 Posted July 20, 2018 I like your optimism, but I don’t think that’s likely at all Because they are B prospects, IMO, and since this season (and next likely) are lost, Pillar is hurt, etc., etc., I would like to give these two guys an extended look at the MLB level. The rest of the season.

More questioned the direction and vision and doesn't like how secretive they always are. The Stroman thing is bang on. He's a s*** show off the field.

Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted July 22, 2018 Posted July 22, 2018 They can't wait until they can trade Stroman. Problem is he needs to pitch well first. I would love if he was moved at the Deadline. Rockies seem like a fit.
