Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted June 8, 2018 Posted June 8, 2018 I don't think the attendance numbers will dip much more below that. We aren't even into summer yet. Once we are they will probably average closer to 30-32k a game regardless of the team performance. I'd be a little surprised if they averaged anywhere in the 30's. I'm thinking more like mid-20's.

Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted June 9, 2018 Posted June 9, 2018 Jays are averaging attendance of 26,795 fans per game this season Way down from last year (39,554) and I don't know what would make it get better at this point Attendance is always lower while the playoffs are on and kids are still in school, but I doubt we'll see the kind of numbers we did last year unless we get really hot. I would expect them to improve maybe into the 31-32k range by the end of the year.

Grant77 Old-Timey Member Posted June 10, 2018 Posted June 10, 2018 We picked up RHP Preston Guilmet again and dumped Deck McGuire.
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted June 10, 2018 Posted June 10, 2018 We picked up RHP Preston Guilmet again and dumped Deck McGuire. It's all just dumpster diving. Rebuilding the core is all that matters. The 17th pitcher on the staff is irrelevant.

All teams dumpster dive. It's part of baseball. Accept it. I mean FFS, we found Bautista and EE in the dumpster. Of anyone, Jays fans should understand the potential rewards of dumpster diving.

Of anyone, Jays fans should understand the potential rewards of dumpster diving. I know they do. But my point is that the core of this team is a mess. That's really where my focus is. I can't get too excited about hopefully cashing in on a lottery ticket. I'm waiting for some more concrete moves to happen.

The core is in transition. The new core is going to be: Vlad Jr Bo Jansen Alford K.Smith Warmoth Stro Sanchez SRF Borucki Zeuch

The new core is going to be: Vlad Jr Bo Jansen Alford K.Smith Warmoth Stro Sanchez SRF Borucki Zeuch How often is the core of a team 100% home grown? There's going to be a mix. Some of those listed above aren't going to hit. I'm eager to see what they do to bring in additional talent... Cause if you're relying only on draft and IFA signings I don't think this is going to play out well.

The odds all of those guys become big league regulars for the Jays is almost zero.
Ray Verified Member Posted June 11, 2018 Posted June 11, 2018 Bichette is hitting .361/.425/.500 in his last 10 games.

Our core is clearly in transition right now and it's unlikely we're going to add more core players through a trade (JD + Happ being our only assets).

The have a good chance to be 2-3 WAR pieces in the corners (not everyone is going to get 8 WAR, in fact no one, or almost no one will, barring Vlad going on a diet, or Bichette reaching his high end... )

Gurriel was just as a high a profile signing (28 million dollar Cuban Free agent, vs 20th round choice) and has done more so far. Gurriel looks to have some power, and contact skills, useful as a utility guys on defense, though his plate discipline leaves something to be desired (so far).

Don't read too much into it.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted June 13, 2018 Posted June 13, 2018 Stroman with 3IP 3BB and 3SO so far in Dunedin.
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted June 13, 2018 Posted June 13, 2018 Stroman finishes with 4.1 IP, 4 walks and 3 K I suppose the good news is his arm is still attached, because that's a s*** performance for a major league starter at High A
Laika Community Moderator Posted June 14, 2018 Posted June 14, 2018 This season has been nearly Worst Case Ontario for the Jays. June 13th and the team WAR leaders are Happ, Pillar, Maile, and Teoscar. lmao.

Laika Community Moderator Posted June 14, 2018 Posted June 14, 2018 Not surprised. 2019 we'll see several youngsters given opportunities to do something. They really have no other legitimate direction at this point. They need to deal Donaldson and Happ this year. Kind of sucks that they don't seem to have anybody else with half decent trade value (like Joe Smith last year). I guess I could see a team giving up a prospect for Granderson.

Moderate prospect for either?
Laika Community Moderator Posted June 14, 2018 Posted June 14, 2018 I don't think it's likely they trade Pillar this year. He's under control for two more seasons, and he should be a solid CF for both of them. Nobody in the org is really pushing him out right now, since Pompey and Alford have been useless. I'd rather hold him than get a moderate prospect. Solarte is also under control for 2019 and would be useful to keep around. He's not really having a great year so I'm not sure how much value he'd even have. He could be traded though, sure. I'd take a moderate prospect.
