How did JDs arm look at third last night? I didn't get a chance to see the game.

It didn't seem 100% to me, but more than good enough to play

Improved significantly but still not looking like it's at full strength

Hopefully the Diaz thing is nothing. He seemed to be moving well after it was apparent his back was bothering him (advanced on that OF fly the AB after I noticed).

He is looking better at the plate (man he looked bad when I saw him in spring and the whole first series). Lets hope he can keep it rolling. What a boon it would be to get some production from SS before Tulo gets back

Sanchez is pitching so it probably will be Gift at SS and Solarte out of the lineup. Solarte probably starts at SS if Estrada was pitching.

Good point, but I'm pretty sure Solarte can play a passable SS. It'll likely be Ngoepe, as you say.

Man our schedule's freaking tough this month, if we can stay around .500, even with a victory tonight, I'd be quite happy, anything better would be gravy.

How about Gift at SS, and Solarte at 2B. Diaz on the bench.

Gift is garbage. I might start Solarte at SS anyway and pray the defense doesn't become an issue. If Donaldson had full arm strength I might put him there and Solarte at 3rd.

Gibby is not going to do this. We have 3 extreme GB starting pitchers. Gift is on the team for this reason. If we can't hit, and beat Carson Fulmer and the rebuilding White Sox with one awful hitter in our lineup - then we're in some serious trouble.

If anything, the question might be whether you sit Morales again and put either JD or Solarte (or even Travis) at DH. Given how much Morales has sat already, I doubt we see that. I'd bet Solarte gets the night off. His feet are likely sore from all the dancing anyway.

The White Sox will eek out plenty of wins against good teams this year. Fulmer got a win @ Cleveland last year, for example. Even in the most lopsided of games I would imagine that the lesser team has a 20% or better chance of winning. Thats just the nature of the game.

So it's not about overcoming a dreadful hitter in our lineup while playing a bad team, it's about putting forth the best lineup we can. If Solarte were a full time SS he'd probably put up something like 0-1 WAR over the course of the season. Gift would put up a negative number despite being the better defender. Solarte would give us a better chance to win IMO.

Solarte played 200 innings of SS last season and did well according to the metrics. That and a dollar will get you a cup of coffee but I don't think if he gets 10 games at SS or so this year it will kill the team. Gift will probably put up a negative WAR in the same amount of time.

Looked serviceable, but not the usual zip. Looks like Scott Mitchell's observations were accurate.

What was his observation? That JD was throwing at 85-90%, which all the coaches agreed would be fine?

Doesn't the defenses ability behind out pitcher affect his WAR? (through BABIP)

BABIP does affect WAR but assigning BABIP responsibility to the defense isn't really all that telling. BABIP is generally more reflective of the type of pitcher you have, IE ground balls vs flyballs, hard hit % etc

Not quite fully healthy, but pretty close.

Stroman is a douche for what he said after Goins was non tendered.

Shilling his own brand makes him a good business man. Who wouldn't try to sell their own s*** on their social media page? That's just common sense. Of course, Nike has the right to do what they did because of it as well. That's the risk Stro was willing to take, I guess.

What did he say about Goins ?

#communication ... apparently he should've been notified, didn't like hearing it through the news or social media, where were you, under a rock, lol.

Shatkins should have just trolled him after that,

"Ay Ross it's 3 am why are you calling me, for real?"

"Marcus we've decided to outright Sam Moll to AAA. I wanted you to hear it from me first"

Was it communication? I thought he was just upset that he lost a teammate and friend.

Yeah - it was the way he found out about it. There's a whole thread about it if you're interested.

Send a follow up when the company tells you why you didn't get a raise.
