Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted April 4, 2018 Posted April 4, 2018 The guy's been the best lead off hitter of all time in concerns of OPS... saw it last night. No-one's really close, #5 was a bat from '27, lol. Ellsbury was #3 which surprised me. It's astonishing that for the past century - managers haven't thought about putting one of their 3 best hitters in the leadoff spot...I think change is finally upon us.
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted April 4, 2018 Posted April 4, 2018 Hutchison is awful. Just gave up a huge triple to Amed Rosario.. and now the Mets lead. No wonder the Jays and Pirates dumped him.

Well Blackmon was originally in the leadoff spot because he was just some speedster. He then broke out and is now one of the Rockies' best hitters and maintained his leadoff spot, but it's not like he started there when he was already a top hitter, just your typical speedy CF type.
Spanky__99 Old-Timey Member Posted April 4, 2018 Posted April 4, 2018 Terrible baserunning by the Backs. Terrible!
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted April 4, 2018 Posted April 4, 2018 Well, even though it's early--the managers who are most at risk to be fired so far this season are: Buck Showalter (BAL) Kevin Cash (TB) Ned Yost (KC) Jeff Bannister (TEX) Bryan Price (CIN) Bruce Bochy (SF) I know it's a small sample size--but these are the early faves to be replaced. Though Bochy is the least likely--the others are fair game.

havok24 Old-Timey Member Posted April 4, 2018 Posted April 4, 2018 Ohtani just took Kluber yard, bah gawd.
Spanky__99 Old-Timey Member Posted April 4, 2018 Posted April 4, 2018 Ohtani went yard again! To tie it.
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted April 4, 2018 Posted April 4, 2018 So Blackmon's deal is a little misleading. The first year involves this year (for which he gets paid 12 million plus a 2 mil signing bonus instead of the 14 mil he signed to avoid arb). So really it's a 3 year, 63 mil deal. With a player option for 21 mil. Then another player option for 10 mil with incentives that could push it up.

jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted April 4, 2018 Posted April 4, 2018 (edited) Another gem by Kluber! Unfortunately, the Indians can't buy a run--haven't been able to solve Skaggs or the pen. Why has the Cleveland offense been so slow this season so far? Near the bottom of the league in multiple categories, Jose Ramirez really struggling, and they really need Brantley back in the lineup. jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted April 5, 2018 Posted April 5, 2018 Angels are down to their last arm in Luke Bard--if this keeps going, could Ohtani pitch? Another of their starters? Correction--now they are with Noe Ramirez in the game.
P2F Old-Timey Member Posted April 5, 2018 Author Posted April 5, 2018 Cozart just walked it off for the Angels in the 13th. Solo shot.

CraigG Verified Member Posted April 5, 2018 Posted April 5, 2018 Zimmer's leap to try and grab Ohtani's HR is the worst ever. Notice: Zimmer does not represent all white man's jumping ability.
King Old-Timey Member Posted April 5, 2018 Posted April 5, 2018 I present to you another article from Fangraphs in which we learn absolutely nothing: https://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/shohei-ohtani-has-already-verified-something/
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted April 5, 2018 Posted April 5, 2018 I traded him and Morrow for Bregman Damn you did him dirty. I hope that isn't a keepers league for that guy.

Pendleton Old-Timey Member Posted April 5, 2018 Posted April 5, 2018 Matt Chapman coming up with the bases juiced!
Bobthe4th Old-Timey Member Posted April 5, 2018 Posted April 5, 2018 Gotta love seeing the kid silence all of the doubters. MVP, MVP! Haha, great start for Ohtani. He needs to back it up with another solid pitching start vs the A's on Sunday.
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted April 5, 2018 Posted April 5, 2018 Gotta love seeing the kid silence all of the doubters. It was nauseating to listen to all the "experts" talk about he HAD to focus on either pitching or hitting and how he should be starting in AA or AAA and blah blah blah blah blah. So many people "filling" their s***** sports talk or pre-game shows with absolute ********.

Pendleton Old-Timey Member Posted April 5, 2018 Posted April 5, 2018 It's icing sugar, because Otani's homerun was like icing on the cake. Nailed it!
