Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted December 23, 2018 Posted December 23, 2018 From friends that attended the Vegas meetings. AA has bought in 100% on advanced analytics and has the biggest budget of any team set aside to bring in the best people. He took the Harvard Analytics course himself while working with the Dodgers. He obviously is getting over his fear of people smarter than him by making himself smarter. I wonder if he feels stupid for making his analytics team cut up articles about players

John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted December 24, 2018 Posted December 24, 2018 Yes, I know it’s not even January yet but as assembled we know that pitching staff is going to be our Tulo's heel this year. Fixed that for you

Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted December 24, 2018 Posted December 24, 2018 He apologized to one Wow, actually? Analytically savvy AA would be a pretty damn good gm
Spanky__99 Old-Timey Member Posted December 26, 2018 Posted December 26, 2018 Anyone surprised the Cubs haven't made any comments since the further evidence of Addy Russell's abuse on his wife? Or from the MLB for that matter?
glory Old-Timey Member Posted December 26, 2018 Posted December 26, 2018 Wow, actually? Analytically savvy AA would be a pretty damn good gm Yeah, a sabermetric AA sounds like a damn good GM. Of course he gets good after he leaves.

No way he's uglier than guys like Renteria and Snitker

Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted December 27, 2018 Posted December 27, 2018 I’m very surprised the Rays didn’t top that.
Grant77 Old-Timey Member Posted December 27, 2018 Posted December 27, 2018 Nice deal for the Twins. The 12 mil option with no buyout is a nice add as well.
BTS Community Moderator Posted December 27, 2018 Posted December 27, 2018 I’m very surprised the Rays didn’t top that. Or the Angels. They need to tell Pujols to take a hike. It's a sunk cost, but it doesn't have to also hurt their team on the field.
Laika Community Moderator Posted December 27, 2018 Posted December 27, 2018 I'm trying to figure out what Cruz' contract says about Smoak's potential trade value. Smoak projects worse (but still well) but is younger and only costs $6M. Maybe he has a bit of value? If the acquiring team is tight on payroll but wants a good hitter?

Sammy225 Old-Timey Member Posted December 27, 2018 Posted December 27, 2018 Surprised we have not heard much about Pollock. Could be waiting for the Harper hat to fall, but i feel you could get him on a reasonable contract similar to Cain last year maybe only 4years and could really solidify and outfield.
Grant77 Old-Timey Member Posted December 27, 2018 Posted December 27, 2018 Opening up a hole at 1B in order to get a mediocre prospect is not very interesting to me. There's nothing wrong with keeping some solid vets around if we have a need and they don't have much trade value. It's important that we bring our top prospects up into a winning environment.

Last I heard, Pollock was asking for way too much money.
Sammy225 Old-Timey Member Posted December 27, 2018 Posted December 27, 2018 Last I heard, Pollock was asking for way too much money. See i never heard this. I don't think he will get what Cain did last year but i was thinking he could get 4/50M after Harper drops.

Reportedly, Pollock's asking price is similar to what Cain got last year, possibly even more if he has his way. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2018/12/a-j-pollock-reportedly-seeking-deal-in-80mm-neighborhood.html https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2018/12/market-notes-pollock-grandal-cervelli-lucroy-andujar-blue-jays-mets.html

I don't see him getting 5 years

Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted December 27, 2018 Posted December 27, 2018 And given all that, Rob Manfred might be even worse.
