FBI opens investigation into the corruption in International baseball. Carryover from the Braves stuff. There are plenty of people in baseball worried right now.

Oh yeah he'll be just fine, have a feeling he'll get the money anyway. It wasn't like it was a spur of the moment decision, he had plenty of time to consider his options while the Yankees were pounding on Kittredge in the top of the inning (they recorded 5 exit velocities of 100+ in that same inning after he threw behind Romine). I'm sure he's at peace with his choice.

i hope he doesn't go to totally not give two effs stage for his last year out there, then again that might be fun to watch

the last 3 years I've watched him expecting him to crash and end his career right on the spot, but he's adapted like Mike Flanagan and Frank Tanana to squeeze out a lot more years for playoff teams, more power to him

I would much enjoy the Red Sox big regular season boasting fall apart in the playoffs, the last one notable collapse was the 2001 Mariners, also enjoyed.

You enjoyed the Yankees making the WS over the Mariners in 2001?

I would enjoy the Red Sox running into Verlander or Kluber a couple times a series and just watching their faces melt in the dugout. One of the best parts of playoff baseball is when there's a stud on the mound and there's just nothing the lineup can do about it and you can just see it written on their faces. Like when Bumgarner tore through the playoffs and it's just complete despair in the opposition dugout.

My hatred in the AL East is for the Red Sox, a million times more than the Yankees.

Something about blaming Babe Ruth's grave was even too low for Boston fans during from 1972 to the early 2000s.

This just goes to show how consistently brilliant DeGrom has been all season.

Holy s***

An interesting podcast that isn't specifically baseball but a tribute to a baseball innovator.

Mental conditioning is a subject that I've only become interested in for the past 3 or so years but in that time I've heard Ravizza's name over and over. These are just great stories about the man.

The Rockies have now won 8 in a row and secured a playoff place. If they hold off the Dodgers and win their division, they could use that momentum to be a threat in the playoffs.

Their whole offseason was about building a lockdown bullpen for the playoffs. While only Wade Davis has had anything like a good season from the summer acquisitions, Oberg, Ottavino and Oh have been great for them. Shaw and McGee now get a chance to redeem themselves by contributing in the playoffs too.

I don’t mind the Rockies making it, but I just want Gray to do terribly in the playoffs so that he’s traded for GB machine Aaron Sanchez in the winter. The Rox are run so poorly that I can at least wish for this for the time being.

I do. They are a terribly managed franchise. Everything points to them being failures and yet, here we are.

I'll still take a Stroman-Gray swap.

They are a bit like the Orioles of a few years ago, lots of strange FO decisions but get away with it with good record (back to back postseasons now). If they follow the same pattern, they’ll collapse when people like Arenado leave.

It'll never happen.

Rockies clinch a post season spot and sit one game up in first place in NL West despite Dodgers winning 7 of their last 10

Exciting last weekend in the NL at least

Today Dodgers face SFG and Rockies face Washington (Strasburg)

AL is all set

Wildcard game is A's @ Yankees

ALDS are:

WC Winner @ Boston

Cleveland @ Houston

I think the athletics could beat boston if they get through the yankees

Posted
Hard to see Oakland’s pitching holding Boston down, but anything can happen in a short series.

Pen usage for the A's is going to be key

Oakland is gonna abuse their bullpen and rightfully so, they are elite.

I think the Yankees can beat Boston. Not sure about the A's.

Definitely rooting for the Astros over the Indians. Astros actually won a division, while the Indians were under .500 against teams not in the Central. F them and their weak ass division.

I want the Indians to win, just for JD and EE...

I don't give a s*** who wins. If it's not the Jays, it's all meaningless to me.

Haha, you really are a miserable sod, do you even like baseball?

Yup. But I only have a vested interest in one team. I can appreciate great baseball but I don't care who wins if it isn't the Jays.

anyone else hoping we get that mess of a scenario of ties for divisions and wildcards

Yes

A team having to win a play-in game and then a wildcard game just to make it to a division series is pretty exciting

There's probably enough tie-breaker rules in place where this won't be necessary I imagine. I could be wrong though.
