John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted September 7, 2018 Posted September 7, 2018 AL MVP is crazy as usual Mookie Betts 8.5 WAR Mike Trout 8.0 WAR Jose Ramirez 7.9 WAR J. D. Martinez 5.7 WAR Two guys on the best team in baseball, one with a chance ar leading all of MLB in BA, HR and RBI Who gets the votes? Are you intentionally dismissing Jose Ramirez?
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted September 7, 2018 Posted September 7, 2018 I almost hope Martinez doesn't do it because him winning it as a DH vs Betts and Lindor and Trout who are better all around players would be annoying AF
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted September 7, 2018 Posted September 7, 2018 Are you intentionally dismissing Jose Ramirez? You caught be between edits as I was alternating between two tabs on my phone's web browser FFS, Betts and Trout both have a better wRC + than Ramirez. Plus they provide very good defense and base running. Just no
BTS Community Moderator Posted September 7, 2018 Posted September 7, 2018 AL MVP is crazy as usual Mookie Betts 8.5 WAR Mike Trout 8.0 WAR Jose Ramirez 7.9 WAR Francisco Lindor 7.1 WAR J. D. Martinez 5.7 WAR but has a chance of leading all of MLB in BA, HR and RBI Who gets the votes? If history repeats itself, JD Martinez will win the MVP if he takes the triple crown.

Martinez 5.7 WAR but has a chance of leading all of MLB in BA, HR and RBI Who gets the votes? Betts - the best team's best player. Even if he hadn't been as good as he has been, he'd still get lots of votes just from that status.

There's precedent for a Red Sox player wining MVP when they weren't even the best player on their team... Pedroia won the MVP when Youkilis was the better player... (and neither should have won that year anyway...)

Yeah this post made me recall how good Grady Sizemore was during that run between 2005-2008. It's a shame that injuries derailed his career, but man that dude was super exciting to watch play.
Bobthe4th Old-Timey Member Posted September 8, 2018 Posted September 8, 2018 Ohtani is god. He’s also finally being allowed to hit against left handed starters as they no longer need to rest him for his pitching starts. 2 homeruns in 2 games vs lefties, with a 4 for 4 with 2 homers game in the middle. Despite missing most of the pitching season and 6 weeks as a hitter, he’s got to be AL rookie of the year IMO.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted September 8, 2018 Posted September 8, 2018 Kopech TJS. Just a reminder to Never Pitch. When people complain that Shapiro only targets position players, stuff like this should be brought up. Pitching prospects suck.

Pitching prospects suck. Agreed, but note the last few trades have been for pitching prospects. Some of the pitching has to come from the farm.

Captain Adama Old-Timey Member Posted September 8, 2018 Posted September 8, 2018 Johan Camargo has quietly been great for Atlanta.

Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted September 9, 2018 Posted September 9, 2018 This ump in Seattle has a massive strike zone.
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted September 9, 2018 Posted September 9, 2018 I find it hard to be too sympathetic for a player who intentionally lets the ball hit them, then has to be removed from the game because they got hurt.
BTS Community Moderator Posted September 9, 2018 Posted September 9, 2018 Josh Rogers might be the worst non-position player I've seen on an MLB mound this season.
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted September 9, 2018 Posted September 9, 2018 Josh Rogers might be the worst non-position player I've seen on an MLB mound this season. I'll bet your opponent in BORED loves him right now.
King Old-Timey Member Posted September 9, 2018 Posted September 9, 2018 Josh Rogers might be the worst non-position player I've seen on an MLB mound this season. His stuff looks terrible.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted September 9, 2018 Posted September 9, 2018 Lmao @ Matt Holliday in the outfield.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted September 9, 2018 Posted September 9, 2018 The Matt Holliday adventures continue. Nope, couldn't put him at first and play Ian Desmond in the outfield (if you weren't gonna play the superior David Dahl anyway), that would make too much sense.

Laika Community Moderator Posted September 10, 2018 Posted September 10, 2018 Johan Camargo has quietly been great for Atlanta. Yeah he has. Wowsers. Any chance Swanson ever learns to hit? A nice reminder that prospect volatility sometimes runs in the other direction (it's not ALL about failure!) 82 wRC+ in 2014 in A ball with no dingers 91 wRC+ in 2015 in A+ ball with one stupid home run 96 wRC+ in 2016 in AA with four lame wall-scrapers Pre-2017 Longenhagen writes this: "Johan Camargo, INF, o.7 KATOH+- A switch-hitting Panamanian infielder, Camargo will flash impressive leatherwork, but he lacks the range for shortstop and the bat to play anywhere else. His feel for hitting and lack of balance at the plate are both non-starters for any sort of offensive output, but he’s a plus defender at third and has started to see reps at second base. He could have Abraham Nunez’ career." 101 wRC+ in 2017 in MLB with a .364 BABIP; assumed to be a fluke / replacement level guy 123 wRC+ in 2018 in MLB with a .200 ISO and 3.2 fWAR and counting... lmao I guess he's probably on roids
