BTS Community Moderator Posted April 7, 2018 Posted April 7, 2018 Sabathia out after only 58 pitches? Injury? He gave up 3 bombs tonite.
DigitalRock Old-Timey Member Posted April 7, 2018 Posted April 7, 2018 Thinking about 2015 makes me physically ill. As it should, we lost to an inferior team and got some very bad luck plus Idiot ump.
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted April 7, 2018 Posted April 7, 2018 Good god Reds pitching is BAD.. 14 runs given up to the frigging PIRATES. Colin Moran 4-4, 3R, 3 RBIs, 2B. Just nuts.. how is this Pirates team 5-1 (soon to be 6-1? Thought this was a tanking team.)
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted April 7, 2018 Posted April 7, 2018 Boonie's bullpen usage is really starting to be questionable--he's got Chad Green right now in there in extras for a 2nd day, a guy rarely used back-to-back days.. and he's struggling with the O's as we speak. Meanwhile Shreve and Holder rot in the pen.. he's going to burn out his main games by mid-season at the pace he's using them.. Of course, Sabathia's injury doesn't help.
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted April 7, 2018 Posted April 7, 2018 If anyone's watching the Angels/A's game on Sportsnet One.. Bridwell just got a welcome back to the bigs by getting destroyed by the A's.. 1.2 IP, 7H, 6ER, 3HRs.. looks like he's turned back into the guy the O's DFAd..
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted April 7, 2018 Posted April 7, 2018 I’m such an idiot for passing on position player Ohtani in yahoo fantasy. Just hit his 3rd homerun.
BTS Community Moderator Posted April 7, 2018 Posted April 7, 2018 I might have possibly been wrong about hitter Ohtani not being a fantasy asset.
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted April 7, 2018 Posted April 7, 2018 If only Ohtani could play every day and didn't have to have off days before he pitches--he's tearing the cover off the ball!
Spanky__99 Old-Timey Member Posted April 7, 2018 Posted April 7, 2018 I might have possibly been wrong about hitter Ohtani not being a fantasy asset. lol

Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted April 7, 2018 Posted April 7, 2018 I might have possibly been wrong about hitter Ohtani not being a fantasy asset. Pretty tough to see him get enough at bats in the 20 team leagues to be worth the spot, plus only qualify at util. He'd have to hit really insane imo, or be owned by someone with a ton of roster flexibility elsewhere.
havok24 Old-Timey Member Posted April 7, 2018 Posted April 7, 2018 I might have possibly been wrong about hitter Ohtani not being a fantasy asset. What an incredible talent. Can't wait for him to be hitting cleanup when he starts an interleague game on the road. Our pitcher doesn't need to bunt!
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted April 7, 2018 Posted April 7, 2018 Matt Chapman is such a stud, another homerun.
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted April 7, 2018 Posted April 7, 2018 Ohtani just got a bases loaded walk--when was the last time you saw a pitcher walked with the bases loaded?
Pendleton Old-Timey Member Posted April 7, 2018 Posted April 7, 2018 Matt Chapman is such a stud, another homerun. Watching him and Moran tonight is tickling all the right places. Also I hope the Yankees and O's play all night

Also I hope the Yankees and O's play all night And Matt Chapman just made a fantastic double play to get the A's out of that mess.. As for the Yanks/O's game--Yanks bullpen is GASSED. Warren cannot go unless it's a super emergency (pitched back-to-back days).. we'll either see a starter (Montgomery? Gray?) or a position player if this keeps going. Boonie's bullpen management needs to be evaluated..
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted April 7, 2018 Posted April 7, 2018 Johnathon Holder just bought his bus ticket to Scranton Wilkes-Barre, as Pedro Alvarez just took him deep for a grand salami. How he got a roster spot is a mystery..

It looks like there is some serious work to be done when it comes to integrating analytics into bullpen usage. Both Boone and Kapler have struggled to use keep their pitchers fresh, despite reasonably good performances from their starters. It makes me appreciate how Gibby handles the 'pen even more.
Pendleton Old-Timey Member Posted April 7, 2018 Posted April 7, 2018 Ohtani just scorched another one (110mph grounder) but right at Olsen
Pendleton Old-Timey Member Posted April 7, 2018 Posted April 7, 2018 Nvm He unsaved it so he can have a chance to re-save it.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted April 7, 2018 Posted April 7, 2018 What an incredible talent. Can't wait for him to be hitting cleanup when he starts an interleague game on the road. Our pitcher doesn't need to bunt! I'm so excited to see Ohtani showing what was hoped for on both sides of the ball Exciting times for Angels fans and baseball in general

And the Orioles win it in the 14th Ouch
glory Old-Timey Member Posted April 7, 2018 Posted April 7, 2018 The Angels look really good offensively. If they get any starting pitching they will be tough to beat.
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted April 7, 2018 Posted April 7, 2018 And the Orioles win it in the 14th Ouch Worse news--Sabathia(hip) and Drury(migraines) to the DL, and Holder winning a bus ticket back to Scranton Wilkes-Barre. Cessa, German up to be emergency help for the taxed bullpen (only Warren and Robertson are available today thanks to Boone's bullpen blunders), and former Braves prospect Jace Peterson called up to cover infield depth, as Gleybar Torres is not close to MLB ready, as he's struggling in AAA.
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted April 7, 2018 Posted April 7, 2018 For people watching the Yanks/O's on Sportsnet later--the Yanks lineup today looks more like something you'd see in spring training, not on April 7th: Gardner CF Judge RF Stanton DH Gregorius SS Austin 1B Andujar 3B Peterson LF Romine C Torreyes 2B No Sanchez (calf), Walker or Wade.. plus a very overtaxed pen.
Bobthe4th Old-Timey Member Posted April 7, 2018 Posted April 7, 2018 The Angels look really good offensively. If they get any starting pitching they will be tough to beat. They'd have a pretty good rotation if everyone was available, but at least Garrett Richards is finally healthy.
