Walker on a one year deal is a great fit for them. Talk about patience getting rewarded.

 

Switch-hitter who can play every day and will probably provide 2-3 fWAR, on a 1-year deal for 5M is insane. Are publicly-available WAR models just completely broken, and Walker is actually not a good player? Or did 29 teams just let the Yankees get this bargain for unknown reasons?

32 with an injury history - perhaps no one wanted to give him multiple years and on a 1 year deal he'd rather chase a ring than go for more money elsewhere (Yankees couldn't really afford to offer more).

 

Still a steal though.

Yankees scoop Neil Walker up for 1 year 5M while the Jake McGees of the world are getting deals for 3/27. This market doesn't seem rational at all.

 

The deals are out there for teams still willing to take them, but if he only gets 5m with the Yanks, that's going to be a solid steal for them. Just keeps making the Morales contract suck balls because Walker can actually still run and take the field if needed.

I guess that pushes Gleyber to AAA, although he's gotten off to a rough start anyway. Definitely a hell of a steal for them.

Combined with the best bullpen and a good starting pitching core. Its tough not to see them winning 95 - 100 games.

I agree. It's twitter, but still...That's just lazy/weak reporting. Are we expected to believe this was such a hot take that he didn't even have time to hold down the 'SHIFT' key?

He managed to use shift for CarGo, so... I guess just sloppy/dumb... Also, "all is said to good"

The baseball reporters are all so desperate to be the first to share news it's weird. Heyman recently had a row with some ESPN(?) reporter on twitter where he called him out for "stealing" info on a deal without crediting the original reporter.

 

No one cares who shared the news first as it's normally all over the internet within an hour anyway.

Heyman actually writes at a 2nd grade level, not exaggerating. He probably got let go by all those outlets he was a part of because he put too much strain on the editor.

I'm sure the park will be nicer, even though the other one was fine. The real problem is Arlington. That place sucks. Nothing to do whatsoever unless you drive into Dallas which isn't all that close.
