Pretty solid signing for the Brewers. He's 35 but the commitment is so small that it hardly matters. Would have been more than fine with that for the Jays but I can see why the Brewers looked like an attractive destination for Albers after the big moves.

Jewish friend in my fantasy football league named his team the Jew Nork Yets. I'll have to send him that logo.

They should probably just re-brand completely at this point. Cleveland fans hate the Block C logo. Just lose the Indians altogether.

BRING BACK THE CLEVELAND SPIDERS!

I have a much better one in mind for San Fran.

Yeah, they really should. Call it the Cleveland Rockers or something (for the rock and roll hall of fame). Lots of marketing opportunities there.

The logo was offensive and needed to be removed, but no way in hell should they be forced into changing the name. "Indians" is neither racist nor offensive. Is "Boston Celtics" an offensive name? How about the "New York Yankees" (which does have negative connotations)?

I don't think anyone is saying they should be forced to change their name, we're saying it's an ideal time to choose to do so. They benefit for them in rebranding probably far outweighs any sentiment.

Its already started among the rabid-activists, hop on Twitter and you'll see that just changing the logo isn't enough for most of these people. Its all "cultural appropriation".

Unsurprisingly, no one really gives a s*** about Notre Dame's stereotypical leprechaun logo or culturally appropriating St. Patrick's day for instance.

I don't see why anyone should be booing or upset about this. This is a pretty offensive logo...I mean, I don't personally give a s*** about it but other people do and it seems like a pretty easy change to appease people with a legitimate grievance. There have been much more obscene gestures of political correctness than this in our society. Is there anyone who actually cares about that stupid logo?

1. Cleveland gets to re-brand = more merch sales.

2. Cleveland's old crap goes on sale = more poor people in Cleveland get to wear licensed MLB gear.

3. Some of the team's old stuff will be considered vintage/in limited supply = it goes up in value for the people who hold it.

4. MLB gets to look slightly less outdated and offensive to that Millennial crowd it is so desperately trying to reach.

Really it's a win-win scenario at all angles. With how badly MLB's tradition has been molested over the years (inter-league play, wild cards, pitchers don't complete games anymore, too many damn advanced stats taking over the game, the all-star game means something, then it doesn't, numerous, numerous jerseys and cap logos), does anyone actually think this will matter at all to tradition?

My problem is that they didn't really address the most offensive thing about the uniforms, in that they are absolutely hideous. They just removed an element to make them even more plain.

They need a full re-brand at this point. If SJW-in-chief Manfred wants to virtue signal to all the natives who have been empirically proven to not give a s***, it's kind of pointless to keep calling them the Indians.

I think naming teams after groups of ethnic minorities is pretty dumb to begin with but I hate uppity white people who love getting offended on behalf of others.

Okay, I don't think any reasonable people are saying that. Personally I avoid Twitter like the plague, so I can't speak to what people are saying there.

Every "indigenous" (that's the PC term now, right?) person i've spoken to loves that there is a team named the Indians with a logo of an indian. At least here in SK, they all call themselves Indian and are super proud of their heritage. It doesn't come across as racist at all, at least to the people I've spoken to. I am pretty sure the outrage is literally all from SJW white people

yeah, I think it probably makes sense to change the name/logo. Its pretty dumb. But my own experience tells me that 90%+ of the people I see with Indians gear are native.

Did Jerry Howarth stop uttering Indians because of what some Native person requested of him a few years ago? So there's at least one person.

The problem is not the team name and using offensive/outdated language. The problem is that these people get treated like little children by the government and their leaders and then the teenagers would rather off themselves then face a life where you have similar freedom as you would in a communist dictatorship. At least that's the case in Canada.

I was there this year and the name does bring out the worst in several of it's fans, from wearing redface, to chants. With that said the name doesn't need to go...Wahoo did. I am hearing that the merchandise still might have Wahoo...which is still a step in the wrong direction.

I have been with the Change the name movement since 1992 which I have told the horrible shameful story of how I ended up understanding the movement. I can assure you that there are many aboriginals who do not like the logos and names. I am now in a 90% indigenous community and I agree that 90% couldn't give a s*** or see why it's bad. 90% also don't follow politics and will never leave their community (nor do they know of the opportunities which they have here in Canada which they do not have in the States). It's all about political power and in the U.S. they have zero. They can't even get a f***ing name changed...so they certainly are not going to get the rest of what they need.

Athletics acquired LHP Ryan Buchter, 1B/OF Brandon Moss and cash from the Royals for RHPs Jesse Hahn and Heath Fillmyer.

Why would the A's give up Hahn for that s***? He was worth 1.3 WAR in 69 innings last year.

Today, Red Sox pitcher Tanner Houck became the latest player to leave agent Jason Wood and CSE, Robert Murray of FanRag Sports reports (separate links). The player exodus, of course, comes in the midst of allegations that Wood filmed players in his shower with a secret camera. Houck is now with CAA sports, and joins Mitch Keller, Jake Odorizzi, Riley Pint, Joey Wentz, Cody Asche, and Taylor Gushue as players who have left CSE to sign with other agencies. As Murray points out, many are expected to follow in their footsteps, perhaps including one of the agency’s most notable clients, Andrew Benintendi

AA handed the #1 ranked farm system is like giving a million dollars to a crack addict.

Maybe Friedman changed him, though.

You seem to forget how much effort he built in to having a strong system in Toronto after JPR did nothing for the farm. When they were close, he went full Berzerker. Atlanta isn't close. I don't see him moving prospects until they're already in the post-season discussion.

Atlanta's farm is overrated. It's all Acuna. After him you have Pache, who has never hit a pro homerun, and a bunch of pitchers.

They have Freeman locked up for four more years. That is how many years Jose and Edwin had left when AA went bonkers over here. I'd be shocked if he continues to rebuild beyond 2018. My guess is by this time next year he will start trading off a bunch of prospects for short term help. But again, maybe he's changed.

And the Jays were not close after 2012. They had like 90 losses and wasn't that the year every starting pitcher had to have surgery simultaneously? They were bad, man.

Royals clearing space for Morales. Nice.

The funny thing is they probanly think they actually miss him and want him back

Any chance the Royals do Hammel for Morales? Maybe if the Jays eat up half of the 2019 salary? There has to be something between the two teams that doesn't involve Ian Kennedy's s*** contract going to the Jays.
