Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted November 26, 2017 Posted November 26, 2017 Was just wondering if you enjoyed Doc with the rest of us on the old board! I used to post on the ESPN blue jays message board before it died and I found this glorious place.

Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted December 7, 2017 Posted December 7, 2017 C'mon man. #32! Regardless, a nice gesture. Gausman himself is an interested pitcher. Electric stuff - I keep worrying every year that he's going to turn the corner and become an ace.

As far as Kevin is concerned Doc was probably a rookie when he joined the Phillies.

Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted December 8, 2017 Posted December 8, 2017 He gets to honour Roy Halladay and piss of Blue Jays fans. Fans in Baltimore will eat this s*** up.
Laika Community Moderator Posted December 8, 2017 Posted December 8, 2017 Honestly, f*** this guy for dying.

Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted January 4, 2018 Posted January 4, 2018 We should consider taking Doc down from the banner.
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted January 19, 2018 Posted January 19, 2018 Autopsy showed blunt force trauma and drowning as the cause is death. Also showed other s*** in his blood but it was consistent with prescription meds to treat insomnia.

Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted January 20, 2018 Posted January 20, 2018 Morphine and ambien were found in his blood. Guess that's a bit more than sleeping pills. I wonder if we're still not allowed to say anything negative about the circumstances of this death.

Also, amphetamines... whether he was prescribed those drugs or not, there's no way he should have been flying a plane, lol. Idiot. https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/pitcher-roy-halladay-had-morphine-ambien-system-when-he-crashed-n839326

Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted January 20, 2018 Posted January 20, 2018 This also may have screwed his family out their life insurance policy. I'm sure they're doing fine financially, buddy. He screwed them out of a father and husband because of ignorance, that's the tragedy here.
Dick_Pole Old-Timey Member Posted January 20, 2018 Posted January 20, 2018 This situation is quite unfortunate. I think there is a general belief among all of us Blue Jays fans that Halladay as a pitcher was a perfect mesh of talent, athleticism, perseverance (2001) and intelligence. The facts surrounding this tragedy is putting a serious damper on the latter.
JaysAllMighty Old-Timey Member Posted January 20, 2018 Posted January 20, 2018 How can anyone judge him when so little facts are known. So many different scenarios that could actually justify his actions if it was a suicide.
CrackerJack Verified Member Posted January 20, 2018 Posted January 20, 2018 There's a nice Roy Halladay memorial area in the concourse area roughly behind home plate. I saw it today at Winterfest. Has a locker stall set up with Roy's uni hanging there. There's a big wall with number 32 made out of baseballs. Plus Halladay video highlights are rolling etc.

Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted January 21, 2018 Posted January 21, 2018 I'm not really a fan of all the passive aggressive jabs being taken at him. You have no idea what was going on his head. No idea what he was going through or dealing with. Just because his life looked great on the surface doesn't mean it actually was. In hindsight everything about what happened seemed avoidable but terrible s*** happens everyday. I will look back at his life with fond memories. I don't know if I'm the Blue Jays fan I am today without Roy Halladay. I remember wanting to stay inside on nights as kid when he pitched with us well out of the playoffs just because every time he took the mound you thought something special could happen.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted January 21, 2018 Posted January 21, 2018 Who wouldn't look back on his life with fond memories? He made a stupid mistake, s*** happens, saying it's suicide is a reach.
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted January 21, 2018 Posted January 21, 2018 Who wouldn't look back on his life with fond memories? He made a stupid mistake, s*** happens, saying it's suicide is a reach. Trying to rationalize a "hero" making a retarded decision. Facts: Doc had various drugs in his body. He flew a plane while it was in his body. He crashed because he was flying recklessly. Was there enough of the various drugs to affect his judgement? Don't know. But we do know his flying was erratic based on the people that saw him. He's dead now and his wife is without a husband and kids without a father.
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted January 21, 2018 Posted January 21, 2018 More probable is Halladay was using the drugs to increase the thrill of flying. He simply overdid it.

Re: drugs - what I read said the drugs and amounts found in his body were consistent with sleeping pills for insomnia. I don't know Jack about flying but it seems reasonable to take sleeping pills to sleep and then go about your life the next day. Did others read otherwise re: amounts? Edit - you know what. I don't care. I'm going to choose to remember the good. Doc is a f***ing legend. Don't let some partial information skew that guys. RIP Doc. We love ya

I know the ambien and amphetamines were for the insomnia, but Morphine is a narcotic, you can't fly on narcotics.
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted January 21, 2018 Posted January 21, 2018 It's a common thing to use drugs to enhance the effect, dude If that's true then he was a complete, unequivocal idiot. Get drugged up, get into an aircraft, PILOT the aircraft, and put everyone in harm's way so you can get a buzz while flying? Highly doubtful.
