Considering Buck was a former catcher, he really is terrible at recognizing what pitch is being thrown while commentating.

Career FIP over 4.5 and a walk rate that climbs annually (4.7 BB/9IP this year, ug)

I presume the team sees Koehler as temporary rotation filler only? Maybe SP 7 or 8 on the depth chart??

He's got one more year of arbitration left but since he made 5.7 mil this year I think he probably gets non-tendered. They probably picked him up for this pseudo-contention that we are in as he's better than Tepesch and Rowley.

They will probably work out a deal to bring him back cheaper. He sucks but after what we saw this year with depth starters, he can't possibly be worse to hide in the pen in case of need than Bolsinger, Valdez, Tepesch, Rowley, Lawrence, and whoever else the team started that I'm trying to forget.

Starting pitching has been difficult to watch this year

Yeah I wouldn't be surprised to see them try but he could just try his luck in FA. This is a pretty big month for him money-wise.

I'm surprised the Marlins even went to arbitration with him last off season

The Jays have 2 rotation openings in 2018, plus practically no depth in the minors. Koehler will be lucky to get a big league rotation job elsewhere, but even if he wanted to test the market, this team is probably the best fit for him if he realistically wants big league starts next year. Hell, if he leaves, he leaves, no big loss, but I could see the Jays trying to bring him back to act as depth.

Yeah he wasn't that bad in the 4 years prior to this one. If the Jays offer him a few mil he would probably accept. Looks like he has an option too. Maybe the Jays avoid arbitration with him by signing him for 3 million and he starts in Buffalo.

He had bursitis earlier this year. He might have been pitching through it, hence his s*** numbers. He really hasn't been that bad the four previous years. Since he came back from his latest DL stint he's dominated in AAA. Maybe he can be the 1 WAR pitcher that he has been for the past four years. Looks good so far at least.

Name one thing Buck gets right consistently.

I don't think that should have been overturned.

It was the right call. The rubber that splashed out from the sides was the only thing that appeared to touch the line. Sucks though.
