THANOS Old-Timey Member Posted May 24, 2017 Posted May 24, 2017 Alford to DL. I don't understand lol? Why?
Virgil_Hiltz Verified Member Posted May 24, 2017 Posted May 24, 2017 Hamate fracture apparently. unf***ingbelievable!
Governator Community Moderator Posted May 24, 2017 Posted May 24, 2017 Just a regular day. Pretty sure the team has been sharing Brandon Morrow's old shower gel
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted May 24, 2017 Posted May 24, 2017 Good to see Stroman's big bat back in the lineup.
THANOS Old-Timey Member Posted May 24, 2017 Posted May 24, 2017 Hamate fracture apparently. What's the recovery time on something like this?
LGBJ29 Verified Member Posted May 24, 2017 Posted May 24, 2017 What's the recovery time on something like this? likely 3-4 weeks
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted May 24, 2017 Posted May 24, 2017 What's the recovery time on something like this? Doesn't the hamate bone injury zap your power for like 2 years? this is bad.
LGBJ29 Verified Member Posted May 24, 2017 Posted May 24, 2017 Doesn't the hamate bone injury zap your power for like 2 years? this is bad. in like the rarest of cases where surgery is required. Lets calm ourselves a little bit here
TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted May 24, 2017 Author Posted May 24, 2017 What's the recovery time on something like this? Probably an extreme case but: Someone on reddit also pointed out that Eric Hinske suffered a hamate fracture after his RoTY season and it took 2+ years for his batting to come back around. I don't remember enough about the dark days of Eric Hinske and I don't know enough about hamate fractures to add anything of my own.
LGBJ29 Verified Member Posted May 24, 2017 Posted May 24, 2017 It all depends if it is a hairline fracture/stress fracture etc.

TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted May 24, 2017 Author Posted May 24, 2017 How the f*** did this even happen? Did he just jerk off too rigorously the celebrate his first hit? Maybe I didn't pay enough attention to the game, did they say anything about a potential injury on the broadcast?
TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted May 24, 2017 Author Posted May 24, 2017 http://www.beyondtheboxscore.com/2014/5/2/5672834/hamate-fractures-and-power-in-the-pitchfx-era Here is a good article that compares players who have had the injury and looked how their power bounced back So Alford is going to develop even more power as a result of this injury? I'll take it.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted May 24, 2017 Posted May 24, 2017 (edited) I thought he looked really bad in his second at-bat last night. His swings looked really rough and bat was slow. I really wish I had video but yea f*** dude this sucks. Edited May 24, 2017 by Jonn
Pendleton Old-Timey Member Posted May 24, 2017 Posted May 24, 2017 Going to have to tune down his bat speed until his bones develop enough to handle the torque.
Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted May 24, 2017 Posted May 24, 2017 Apparently they are saying Alford cracked the bone fouling off a ball in his 2nd AB
Pendleton Old-Timey Member Posted May 24, 2017 Posted May 24, 2017 Maybe give Jason Leblebijian the next call up? Positional versatility and seems like he just keeps hitting
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted May 24, 2017 Posted May 24, 2017 Maybe give Jason Leblebijian the next call up? Positional versatility and seems like he just keeps hitting Seems like a decent option probably could use some reps in LF. He's only had 1 start their so far this season and that's where we would need him.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted May 24, 2017 Posted May 24, 2017 Broxton killing us this year. Crushed a homerun in Toronto as well.
Arjun Nimmala Vancouver Canadians - A+ SS It's been slow going at the start of the season for Nimmala, but on Sunday, he was 3-for-5 with his 3rd home run and 3 RBI. Explore Arjun Nimmala News >
