KevinGregg Verified Member Posted May 3, 2017 Posted May 3, 2017 What the f***? I thought that was a balk. Why isn't it just a ball?
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted May 3, 2017 Posted May 3, 2017 Ballk? Buck has a point in that technically the ball did leave Betances' hand and he didn't make any weird motions, but I have seen this happen before and it's usually called a balk.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted May 3, 2017 Author Posted May 3, 2017 One in the gap makes this a 1 run game... c'mon Kendrys! A bomb would go well.
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted May 3, 2017 Posted May 3, 2017 Ballk? I think the balk is the correct call. The ball came out of his hand at the tail end of his wind up and he went through the rest of the motion and the ball didn't get "thrown" towards the plate. Edit. Rule was clarified on the broadcast, was the right call.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted May 3, 2017 Posted May 3, 2017 Morales doesn't look very good. He's outmatched here.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted May 3, 2017 Author Posted May 3, 2017 It's a ball guys... F U Morales!
King Old-Timey Member Posted May 3, 2017 Posted May 3, 2017 It's utterly ridiculous to take a massive HR cut like that with two strikes and a runner on third, down by five runs. A base hit gets us a chance with one swing of the bat. This is highly flawed logic.
Maahfaace Verified Member Posted May 3, 2017 Posted May 3, 2017 It's a ball guys... F U Morales! has to cross the foul lines for it to be a pitch no?
EdwinsParrot Old-Timey Member Posted May 3, 2017 Posted May 3, 2017 Of course when others heat up morales is bad
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted May 3, 2017 Posted May 3, 2017 Morales needs to be dropped to the 5 or 6 spot until he finds himself. He's basically the only hitter not having good AB's.
Pendleton Old-Timey Member Posted May 3, 2017 Posted May 3, 2017 Might have been a tad outside but close enough to be ripping on. Did Morales get crossed up after being tipped off that the catcher was set up low?
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted May 3, 2017 Author Posted May 3, 2017 This is highly flawed logic. Yup, no one complained when Smoak hit a 440 shot on a 1-2 count the other day. Runs are runs.
King Old-Timey Member Posted May 3, 2017 Posted May 3, 2017 With all the data we have on exit velocities, I find it hilarious that people still get mad at players for trying to hit the ball as hard as they can. Because why would you take a home run cut when you can hit a soft ground ball up the middle?
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted May 3, 2017 Author Posted May 3, 2017 has to cross the foul lines for it to be a pitch no? Not sure, but they scored it a ball.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted May 3, 2017 Posted May 3, 2017 Might have been a tad outside but close enough to be ripping on. Did Morales get crossed up after being tipped off that the catcher was set up low? He's just way off right now. Clearly looking for a fastball to tie it on the first pitch and swung at an awful curve, then overcompensated waiting for the breaking ball and was completely blown away by the heat, then he was a dead duck after that.
Latos Losses Verified Member Posted May 3, 2017 Posted May 3, 2017 Thank you Morales. Way to screw over Latos.
Maahfaace Verified Member Posted May 3, 2017 Posted May 3, 2017 Not sure, but they scored it a ball. It was scored a Balk bro
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted May 3, 2017 Posted May 3, 2017 Is Gibby seriously using Grilli here? You know he can't pitch back to back days.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted May 3, 2017 Posted May 3, 2017 Is Gibby seriously using Grilli here? You know he can't pitch back to back days. Meh, might as well let him try to get his s*** together in a game which we've mostly given up on. That's not exactly what you wanted to see on the first pitch.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted May 3, 2017 Posted May 3, 2017 He's just way off right now. He guesses a lot. Seen him swing at some bad breaking balls.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted May 3, 2017 Author Posted May 3, 2017 It was scored a Balk bro I'm just listening to Shulman, he said it was a ball... my bad.
Pendleton Old-Timey Member Posted May 3, 2017 Posted May 3, 2017 He's just way off right now. Oh yeah I'm not arguing that Morales hasn't put the greatest AB's together. But on this particular pitch, I was sure the catcher was setting up for the breaking ball down, and with a runner happening to be on second, I wouldn't be shocked if Morales was tipped off and then crossed up. Could be wrong of course.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted May 3, 2017 Posted May 3, 2017 He guesses a lot. Seen him swing at some bad breaking balls. Yup. When you're hot it seems like you're guessing correctly all the time but right now it's the complete opposite. He's been a swing and miss machine on changeups and breaking balls for a bunch of games now.
Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted May 3, 2017 Posted May 3, 2017 Ballk? Had that happen to me way to many times while playing baseball...throws everybody off first lol
