closetjaysfan Verified Member Posted April 27, 2017 Posted April 27, 2017 Chances that Barney or Goins ends up pitching the next game?
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted April 27, 2017 Posted April 27, 2017 That was an atrocious result. I like how they waited 4 days and until he was in a bases loaded situation to use Howell for his first appearance off the DL.
fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted April 27, 2017 Posted April 27, 2017 LMFAO!!! cf You understand me!!!
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted April 27, 2017 Posted April 27, 2017 I'm not one for giving up or throwing in the towel... But this team looks toast. It just seems like everything is going wrong. This is definitely not their year.
RotatorCuff Verified Member Posted April 27, 2017 Posted April 27, 2017 to make it even worse Tabler was saying the whole at bat that carpenter is sitting on the curve and he was. took that 3-2 curve deep into the seats. its bad enough the jays suck now, but making tabler look like he knows baseball hurts the most for me today.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted April 27, 2017 Posted April 27, 2017 Extra kick in the nuts since I have Howell in the LoD. s***** loss, was looking like a win we could all have a chuckle about and then everything unraveled at the seams. That did nothing to his numbers, mate.
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted April 27, 2017 Posted April 27, 2017 Man it seemed like we may have been turning a corner there and then we blow a 4 run lead. Too many things are going wrong at once to overcome. The offense, starting pitching and bullpen can't muster anything together. At least one of the three is off every single night.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted April 27, 2017 Posted April 27, 2017 That did nothing to his numbers, mate. Um, that'll destroy his FIP lol.

Too many things are going wrong at once to overcome. The offense, starting pitching and bullpen can't muster anything together. At least one of the three is off every single night. Honestly, to be the fool's optimist, the team is certainly looking a lot better at least on offense. The starters have kept us in the game most nights and we're starting to get contributions from some key guys. Losses like this can eat dicks, but at least it's not like early in the year where we couldn't muster two hits against Alec f***ing Asher. It's watchable baseball for the most part I would say.
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted April 27, 2017 Posted April 27, 2017 He's 22 years old...come on. At worst he's injured and we won't see him on the mound for a year, he's far from "finished". Sarcasometer for next XMas.
wk680 Verified Member Posted April 27, 2017 Posted April 27, 2017 WOW!! I should have known better than to relax going into the bottom of the 7th with a 4 run lead. Will this team set a new record for the latest date into the season before they finally win two in a row? Also do you continue to go with Osuna as closer? Too bad because he was starting to look better today (despite the leadoff hit) until that HR.......

This team needed balls bouncing off Carrera's head and terrible errors (like the Cardinals' SS throwing the ball away with the game on the line) to win. We're looking "better" (duh, we were the worst team in the league) but I think you're overstating regarding turning the corner. Its been against the Angels and Cardinals, neither team impresses me.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted April 27, 2017 Posted April 27, 2017 Um, that'll destroy his FIP lol. Not in our match-up, is what I'm saying. On second thought(checked fantrax again), yes it did. I'm dumn.

It would be absolutely unacceptable if the Jays detect something but still allow him to pitch

Neither team is terrible though and on the road those are nice wins. 3-3 in games where Latos and Lawrence have started half the games isn't bad. We were cruising to a winning road trip before today's debacle. Martin swinging better, Bautista looking better. Smoak looks playable. It just all fell apart today. Completely deflating loss.
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted April 27, 2017 Posted April 27, 2017 Funny thing is if they win the night cap, they go 4-3 on the road trip. Not disastrous at all.

It is looking better but it's still bad, especially on offense. Every game we basically have struggled to score anything more than 4 runs and the time we have has been extra innings or a loss...we need a huge offensive game to break us out of this slump

We may have benefited from the Cardinals playing terrible baseball, but the guys are starting to drill balls and we're still not getting any luck out of it. There were several balls put into play by the hitters and the hardest hit ones were simply not dropping. We sure could have benefited from that Smoak linedrive with two outs to have found some green.
