Yeah Waffle House is definitely sketchy. It's kind of a running joke, they are all over the interstates in the South. It definitely has its fans though.

Is this some sort of board meme that I've missed out on? Because up until the end of last season, I'd have categorised the board as majority anti Gibby, with a sizeable minority accepting the grass isn't always greener, but only a minority actually loving him.

 

I guess my view is clouded by the GDT threads where the negative views tend to be more prevalent.

FWIW I've always thought we could do better, we could do worse, and he does handle the clubhouse well. I'm glad he's been given an extension to ensure there's no chance of it turning into a distraction.

There's a lot of GDT Gibby outrage, because he's a terrible in-game tactician. But it's become obvious that the players love playing for him, which is really all that matters.

I believe in the WC game people were going mental when he let Stroman see the lineup a 3rd time instead of going to Liriano much more quickly. It's not just in GDTs either, not even close. I think Admin hates him more than anyone, the only times he posts are when he says Gibby should be fired.

Chik Fil A is great. Next time you are down here you should try Raising Cane's if you haven't. They do chicken as well but it's mostly Chicken Tenders. I can't decide which is better.

The posters who hate Gibby the most tend to be the loudest. But I don't think anyone's being rosy in this thread. It's mostly just the same stuff as always: he's an all right manager who makes some blunders, but he's otherwise probably above the average and it's not worth risking whatever chemistry may exist trying to "upgrade". Keeping him around for the rest of this core's run is probably a sound decision. The gushing is mostly for personality. I mean, double finger guns and untucked shirts.

That's the classic way to serve a chicken sandwich. I like other toppings just fine and Chik Fil A will serve them to you if you want but the pickles are a staple.

The bun is the same deflated fast-food bun you can expect from other s***** franchises like McDonald's, with a sinkhole-like depression in the middle. The pickles are sparsely placed on the bun; you get exactly two, meted by a tight-fisted employee. I wouldn't be surprised if they weighed each slice. Often the two pickles are grabbed together and placed on the bun so they're overlapping, further reducing the surface area of the sandwich that includes a bite of their stingy pickles.And the chicken itself? BORING. The breast is the most overrated part of a chicken.

Traditionally pickles are pallet cleansers. You eat them between bites of other things. If you go to a real deli, your pickle will always be served separately. That being said, I don't really mind the taste of pickles in the sandwich and it just makes sense for fast food place to do it that way. I love pickles unconditionally.

I am not a Gibbons fan and he's not very good as an in game manager. If he was fired, it would have been fine with me.

 

But when a front office that I trust values him, and he was less offensive with his stupidity in 2016 (their first year on the job) than he was the year before (when I ripped my hair off every game watching him manage), then I'll keep an open mind about it. Maybe he will get better with a more knowledgable front office pulling the strings. It's not like I have a choice either way. He'll be here for three more years.

Well he's not the brightest bulb in the pack but that's part of his charm. Wish he was more strategically capable, but the players love him and he's had success the past two seasons so hard to complain about extending him.

Not a Gibbons fan but thought he did a great job in the playoffs, and if he can continue to manage like that or get his strings pulled like that, I'm fine with it.

Chick Fil A is over rated imo. Was just in the States and a little disappointed. I mean it was okay but I was expecting mre. I was just in Florida too but only for a few days so didn't feel like taking the 2.5hr drive to see the Jays. If you're in Orlando some time try Shake Shack for hamburgers, unreal. THey hav chicken too which is damn good.
