Ayyyyyy. He'd be solid, I'm not sure if he'd take a minor league role but I'd give him a chance as a swingman out the pen until an injury occurs

As pitching depth he is pretty good...

So let's say Biagini and Bolsinger are 6 and 7 on the pecking order who would be 8? I suppose Latos could be fine in that role.

It would depend on what there intentions are. Are they looking at Latos as minor league depth and Biagini to the pen then it would be (Latos, Bolsinger). Or are they looking try Latos in the pen while Biagini works in the Minors. Either way i am ok with because its not like we are handing him a for sure roster spot by the looks of things. All depending on price anyway.

If it's a minor league deal, no harm, no foul. If he can regain a little of what he had, either as a spot starter or reliever, he could help out. It never hurts to have as much depth as you can get. Depending on what the terms wind up being, if he's signed, Biagini might wind up in the pen helping to solidify it a bit more. If he winds up being a reliever to start the season and Biagini winds up starting in AAA, then it gives another starter. Hopefully, if he is signed, he won't cost the team any wins. If they don't sign him, or he has a date he can opt out, and he leaves, then oh well. If he sucks out loud again, cutting him loose isn't a problem. He's not a buy low, possible decent return guy. If they don't sign him, nothing lost. Worse case if he's signed, he just gives younger arms sometime to develop, and/or throws a few innings, shows he's not worth keeping around, he's released, no biggie. If he manages to turn it around a bit, and helps the Jays out in some way, then it's a win. If he proves he has something left, maybe he takes Dominic Leone spot on the roster.

Latos STILL isn't 30 years old. Dude came into the league sitting 94 and touching 98mph. Aaron Sanchez level velocity.

Now he sits like, 90mph. So much velocity loss, so fast.

Cecil lost a ton of velocity for awhile too so maybe converting to own he can regain it and be effective. But apparently he is a clubhouse cancer. Same reason they dumped Valencia. We'll see.

I like this if it's a minor league deal or small big league deal with the intention of using him as a relief pitcher. I've seen enough to conclude that he is no longer capable of being a good starter, at least in this division.
