burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted January 20, 2017 Posted January 20, 2017 Didn't know Machado would be eligible to play for the DR team Or Gary Sanchez Why wouldn't they be? Lol Sanchez grew up in the Dominican. This isn't like Freeman where one of his parents happened to be Canadian.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted January 20, 2017 Posted January 20, 2017 I'm o.k. with this. Slightly higher injury risk than spring training I guess just because he'll play more but the extra time should help him get sharp more quickly. As we've seen with Stroman, Saunders and others, it's not like spring training is some sort of injury free zone. Yes, I'm all for letting him play this time too
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted January 20, 2017 Posted January 20, 2017 Why wouldn't they be? Lol Sanchez grew up in the Dominican. This isn't like Freeman where one of his parents happened to be Canadian. LOL oops I thought he was US born My bad
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted January 20, 2017 Posted January 20, 2017 DR is going to be friggen stacked. Should be a fun 1st round with Canada, USA and DR all in the same group!
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted January 20, 2017 Posted January 20, 2017 Giancarlo Stanton - Playing for US or Peurto Rico or neither?
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted January 20, 2017 Posted January 20, 2017 Giancarlo Stanton - Playing for US or Peurto Rico or neither? Would think the US since its in Miami.

Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted January 20, 2017 Posted January 20, 2017 Bautista is playing for the DR at the WBC. Wonder if he tries to throw someone out at first.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted January 20, 2017 Posted January 20, 2017 Lol as if the media asked him that question. Probably was Barry Davis.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted January 20, 2017 Posted January 20, 2017 Didn't know Machado would be eligible to play for the DR team As always, the DR offense will be f'n stacked (silly coment on Gary Sanchez removed) SP: Cueto, Carlos Martinez, Al Reyes
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted January 20, 2017 Posted January 20, 2017 Lol as if the media asked him that question. Probably was Barry Davis. Have you seen his twitter or Instagram comments it's always where is Sanchez. Are you and Sanchez not tight anymore. Yo what happened to you and Sanchez.

Yo what happened to you and Sanchez. I'm sure it is. I find most of his social media presence is about his brand now so I don't follow him as much where before I thought it was pretty cool. I can't fault the guy for being a businessmen and trying to maximize his $ given he's a pitcher and it could all evaporate at any time, but its overkill.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted January 20, 2017 Posted January 20, 2017 SP: Cueto, Carlos Martinez, Al Reyes And Bettances is probably the only reliever they need given how slack the schedule is

This isn't like Freeman where one of his parents happened to be Canadian. Freeman's parents are both from Canada. His mother is from Toronto, while his father is from Windsor. He therefore also holds Canadian citizenship in addition to American citizenship. The reason he singled out his mother was she died when he was only 10 years old and wanted it as a tribute to her.

I was just talking in general about how easy it is to play for a country, not singling out Freeman.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted January 20, 2017 Posted January 20, 2017 I was just talking in general about how easy it is to play for a country, not singling out Freeman. Like Rizzo for Italy in 2013 LMAO Even his GRANDPARENTS were born in the USA

Your point is valid in some situations like what G-snarls said about Rizzo and Italy. BUT this is a much different issue. If you are born outside Canada to at least one Canadian born parent, you automatically are eligible for 'birth-right citizenship'. My kids born in the USA fall in this same category as Freeman. Not all countries have that rule but Canada and USA (see Ted Cruz) have it. It dawned on me that Votto probably bowed out to give Freeman a shot.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted January 21, 2017 Posted January 21, 2017 I'm hoping the Jays pick up Zach Neal as he was DFA'd from the A's... good depth with options.

intentional wok Old-Timey Member Posted January 21, 2017 Posted January 21, 2017 Man, Steve Pearce is thick in all the right places. ^^^
Candy Maldonado Old-Timey Member Posted January 21, 2017 Posted January 21, 2017 They couldn't do better for the Toronto portion of the tour. Goins and Pearce?
King Old-Timey Member Posted January 21, 2017 Posted January 21, 2017 They couldn't do better for the Toronto portion of the tour. Goins and Pearce? They should have just had Pearce and left Goins at home.

Pendleton Old-Timey Member Posted January 21, 2017 Posted January 21, 2017 Well that doesn't seem to be giving nearly enough respect to guys who have been as good (or better) for a lot longer.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted January 21, 2017 Posted January 21, 2017 http://i.imgur.com/4xiMCWo.png lol That's a really random list.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted January 21, 2017 Posted January 21, 2017 http://i.imgur.com/4xiMCWo.png lol Doesn't seem like Dan Plesac knows what he's doing.
Bobthe4th Old-Timey Member Posted January 21, 2017 Posted January 21, 2017 http://i.imgur.com/4xiMCWo.png lol No Price, Darvish or Arrieta? No Mets or Cleveland pitchers?
Pendleton Old-Timey Member Posted January 21, 2017 Posted January 21, 2017 No Price, Darvish or Arrieta? No Mets or Cleveland pitchers? Kluber for Cleveland. Plus we're talking top 10 pitchers in the game, it's always going to feel like someone is getting left out (I'm not saying this list is good).
Bobthe4th Old-Timey Member Posted January 21, 2017 Posted January 21, 2017 Time for a BJMB list thread? 1. Kershaw 2. Scherzer 3. Syndergaard 4. Sale 5. Arrieta 6. Price 7. Kluber 8. Bumgarner 9. Archer 10. Darvish
