Accountants probably figured out that they needed to get new products out there. There's probably a spreadsheet somewhere that tells you how often you need to put a new design on the market. Hopefully it's not hideous though ultimately it will be good for business and whatever's good for business could potentially trickle its way down to the product on the field.

Any upgrade over the current blue uniform I would take as a win.

I don't hate them but I don't really like them. I more have an issue with how much they wear them. I like the road uniform better but the home whites are about as close to perfect as you can get.

I'm not a fan of dated 70's looks like powder blues and white panel hats but either of those are far preferable to red uniforms. Not only is that an ugly uniform colour but it's also an ugly uniform that they already used for the Canada gimmick which they've now robbed of its novelty.

Adrian Beltre, Manny Machado, Jose Reyes, Gregory Polanco and Jeurys Familia are among other players whose names general manager Moises Alou will submit to MLB by Thursday. Machado, Betances and Marte had already publicly indicated a desire to play for the Dominican Republic in the WBC. I'm o.k. with this. Slightly higher injury risk than spring training I guess just because he'll play more but the extra time should help him get sharp more quickly. As we've seen with Stroman, Saunders and others, it's not like spring training is some sort of injury free zone.
