Luis Castillo of the Reds is a stud. The guy throws gas and has nasty secondaries. Reminds me of Luis Severino though he's actually a year older.

It's such a shame that today was his last start of the season. I love watching him pitch.

Side note: Stupid me forgot that there were early games today. By the time I remembered, Castillo was 5 IP deep on my bench in BBDL. That could be a crushing error.

It's stupid that they have afternoon games like this on a Wednesday. Peeves me off for reasons you stated.

Ouch that's a tough hit, these random early starts can be huge blows every now and then. With the PPD between Yanks and O's today I wonder if some people were also burned in not using the Tampa-Minny players.

Both Bud Norris and Jay Bruce got activated today for my LOD team, though by time I came home this afternoon, the Angels/A's game already started so even after making two drops, I couldn't get Jay Bruce into my lineup for tonight ugh.

If he was truly an 80 grade in the field with an 80 arm he'd be playing SS not 3rd base.

Tell that to Scott Rolen. You could hang laundry on his throws.

Arizona 11 wins in a row

Cleveland 12 wins in row

F'n impressive

Cleveland now up to 16 in a row after beating Orioles 5-0. Edwin hit his 34th homer too.

Diamondbacks streak ends at 13 after loss to the Padres.

What a 180 degree turn for the Dodgers. That was one of the most dominating records I've seen for 2/3 of a season...and now they're on a 10 game losing streak.

I was watching the Royals game yesterday and saw Eric Hosmer, he went 4-4 but I looked at his statline for the year. Wow!

Hosmer has quietly been having a spectacular year. wRC+ of 141 and a WAR north of 4. I've heard nobody talk about him at all this year and I haven't seen many KC games so this was a shock to me.

He's got a ton of talent but he pounds the ball in to the ground (53% career GB %). If he'd get on board with the rest of this flyball revolution he could become a great hitter.

I was noticing this morning that Lindor has really embraced the fly ball revolution himself. His FB% is in the low 40's now (after being in the high 20's the previous 2 years). He's now up to 29 hrs on the year - however, it hasn't made him tangibly better overall. His BABIP has dropped a lot (as one would expect) and his wRC+ is only at 114, which is below his career mark.

He's really the first player I can remember who hasn't benefited from this new philosophy.

This should help him secure more gold gloves for his spectacular defense...

His FB% is now at 22 on the year, which is a career low (GB% is at 53.5 on the year). Good luck to whoever is going to give him a big contract this offseason. He's done a remarkable job of alternating good and bad season also:

Year: wRC+, WAR

2011: 113, 1.0

2012: 80, -1.7

2013: 120, 3.2

2014: 98, 0.0

2015: 124, 3.4

2016: 102, -0.2

2017: 141, 4.1

If the Royals fail to keep Hosmer in free agency, they could line up well for us to try to trade one of Smoak / Pearce / Morales to them to free up some space at DH/1B for us. Perhaps they would want Pearce for his outfield flexibility too (even though he's not very good in the outfield).

He's young for a FA and despite his ridiculous approach at the plate he is still a good hitter. If whoever signed him could correct his approach they could be getting a star player.

Dayton Moore having a soft spot for Kendrys enough to take the 2/23 he has left on his deal would be wonderful.

Could be....but even with his great season he's having, his career wRC+ is only 112. Same as Morales. I wouldn't touch him with a 10' pole (based on what I think he'll get).

His BABIP is too low even with the added flyballs. He's a better hitter now than he was 2 years ago although his defense has dropped off a lot.

I can't believe Mark Reynolds got enough PA's this year to accumulate 30 hrs and 100 rbis (or to be approaching those milestones). All while their big FA signing, who for some reason was pegged to play 1st base, Ian Desmond has put up the worst year of his career and has a WAR of -0.9.

Baseball is a funny sport at times.

And Reynolds will still probably not get a starting job anywhere next year.

True. He really should hire Mark Trumbo's agent. Those 2 aren't "that" different.

Free agent year. I wouldn't hand Hosmer a huge contract expecting seasons of 140 wRC+'s moving forward.

100% agree. He could all of a sudden turn into Lyle Overbay again one season. Wouldn't surprise me.

.303/.401/.606 and 20 HR's at Coors

vs.

.235/.310/.391 and 9 HR's away from Coors
