The Indians are going to be so f***ing good. Full year of Miller, Allen and Shaw trio at the back end of the bullpen, hopefully healthier seasons from Carrasco and Salazar to go along with Kluber, elite MIF, might get Michael Brantley back and replaced Mike Napoli with Edwin Encarnacion. Fantastic team, they'll be in the running for the WS next season again barring any major setbacks.

Consider that they just added at least one win with the transition from Napoli to EE. For a team in their position on the win curve, that's huge.

They're a lot of fun. Hopefully the fans show up and they're able to keep it together for a few years. Lost in this debate on our end is that this is a great signing for Cleveland. Perfect fit.

Happy for Edwin, he still did pretty well despite his agent being a douche nozzle running wide open. EE is getting solid money and joining an elite team.

Nothing but love and appreciation for his time here, wish him all the best.

Taking a team that came oh so close to winning a World Series, and more or less adding Brantley, Edwin, Carrasco and Salazar, well really a giant collective upgrade over their respective replacements, assuming all are healthy. That's some scary s***.

A lot can happen between now and then, and I'm not discounting some other good teams including our own, but sure isn't tough to picture Cleveland and Boston duking it out for the AL title.

They also still have an adequate farm system to replenish some of the vets that they will inevitably be losing at some point. Makes me really excited to know that we have the top half of the front office that assembled that organization, and supposedly we should have a better budget than Cleveland going forward.

you know it's a f***ed up thread when I'm basically agreeing with everything BTS is saying and Gruber appears to be the logical side of things.

Do we disagree that often?

Probably a bit more on the prospect side of things, less so on big league assessment. But f*** off anyway. There's a disagreement for you

Tbh I'm not so sure. Adding EE doesn't increase their odds of winning the division that much considering how big of a favourite they already were.

The team is stacked though. I'll take their pitching over any other team in baseball.

Fire Shatkins

Pathetic

Shatkins will have run this franchise into the ground. They are garbage. Kiss the post season goodbye for many years.

At least one management team knows how to spend when they're competitive

pathetic really, looks like Cleveland got rid of the right people

You said it. God help us.

Please get educated. You have about 4 months until the season starts. Read some articles on fangraphs. Read about how the 2 most current world series teams were built. Stop spouting your mouth when you don't know s***.

Do you blame him for wanting to test the market? This is most likely his last chance to see what's out there. Ya it didn't develop but that's because Dodgers/Yanks/Red Sox/Cubs are all basically not wanting a mid 30s player and made other moves. But it's not like we HAD to sign morales. I would have rather waited on EE's decision. Morales strictly a dh didn't have 10 teams knocking down wanting to pay him 10m+ a year.

He deserved more respect, as does Bautista. This regime does not respect anyone. They tried to play hardball with arguably the number one free-agent hitter on the market who actually wanted to stay. They missed out on EE, Fowler because of their corporate culture, Reddick, Eaton, Desmond. They like shopping in the bargain bins. You think career journeymen are the answer???

You should learn to use the multiquote function, we don't need to see your garbage spread across three posts.

Why is this only about Morales? Pearce is a better, cheaper player that we got too ya know... I'll wager $50 that Morales + Pearce puts up more WAR than Edwin next season.

That is two spots in the lineup. So far, these two guys will replace the production of EE and JB. Looks pretty s***** to me. And nobody gives a s*** about your made-up stat. It's all about RBIs.

Well you were pretty subtle at first, i'll give you that. Definitely fooled me.

How is Edwin happy? He could have stayed in Toronto with $80 million, and now he gets to live in Fricking Cleveland for $60 million because of some greedy agent.

He's on a better team now and no, he doesn't have to live in Cleveland.

Well yeah they were obviously favourites before, I just meant that it's a pretty significant upgrade for a team that was already pretty stacked. Having Edwin versus Napoli (not that he's terrible or anything) in the playoffs is a big deal.

Also, with the winner of the All-Star game no longer representing home field advantage (does that come into play next season?), every extra win counts for the Indians.

Lebron lives 25 minutes outside the city in a place called Bath, Ohio and the area looks nice enough to me. The word 'quaint' might even apply but I don't know if I have the experience to make that call.

Thank you for your service EE. I'm happy with what our new FO have accomplished so far. We saved a bundle, gained a first round draft and hopefully another one with JB. Our birds will be in for another playoff run AND a bright future.

This isn't anything to stress over. Be happy that this is the second consecutive off-season where you have baseball people running this team instead of a sockless geriatric and his overweight pet.

And it only cost him $20 million dollars. $20 million that could have gone to his family. Zero guarantees of winning despite how stacked. Edwin may be on the road for 1/2 the year but his family gets to live in the shithole that is Cleveland. Agent should be shot and pissed on.

You're making a complex situation out to be black and white. Edwin was almost certainly provided with an honest assessment of the situation, as well as the risks involved and he opted to role the dice. There's nothing suggesting Kinzer did a bad job here.

You obviously didnt hear Kinsler speak multiple times on different radio shows, if you did you would'nt be defending this situation in this manner.

Thanks EE for everything, a big part of Jays history.

Hope he gets a good reception in his first game back (May 8th).

There are nice suburbs for every city. I know Cleveland sucks but it seems we have some posters that recently underwent a lobotomy.

Would have preferred EE to Morales + pick + cash, but as a B option I'm satisfied.

Without the flexibility of the additional cash we prob don't sign Pearce, and the open spots (RF, bullpen and backup catcher) are likely all very low salary guys.

Plus if we are anywhere near the playoffs at the deadline we have the flexibility to pull off another Liriano type trade taking on salary.

It will be hard to see the Jays rotation put up a season like last year, I expect a step back, especially with regards to Happ and Estrada. This team with its current make-up making the playoffs, seems alot less likely, although Shatkins might surprise us before the off season is over.
