Sign Bautista for LF, trade for Dyson for RF, sign a backup C and then tinker with the bullpen and I think that allows us to compete for the WC.

I have a feeling there is a real hard on for Jay Bruce, and that is going to get in the way of Bautista.

I think for Jose and from his agent, the most sense for him, especially if considering a one year option is to play wherever he can stay healthy. A combo of 1b and RF offer that more then 'demanding' to be in the outfield daily. No one is going to pay him for his defence anymore in the outfield. There isn't going to be a big difference in salary if he's at 1b or RF next year if he takes a one year deal.

I don't go to Stoeten for analysis, I go to him for pith, wit, and cynicism. He is the voice of Jays fans who actually have some idea of how baseball actually works and who care about the things that matter. I dare any of you to try to churn out that level of content for this many years. It could fill several books, and he didn't monetize it for a very long time. I respect his dedication and I enjoy his voice. I don't expect him to be Tom Tango and I wouldn't read him if he tried to be that.

Really though, I dont mind some of his pieces, he actually comes out with some pretty reasonable stuff. However, when he gets an idea or certain line of thinking in his head, he is unable or unwilling to accept any other view point. For example, once Edwin signed, Stoeten started a long rant about how Rogers is too cheap, and this would have never happened under better ownership. Which is a pretty short sighted and casual opinion.

No way I do a 1 year deal unless it's for $15M. It's not like teams are jumping at the chance to sign him. I'd give him a 3 year $50M deal with a team option for a 4th. 20-15-15-20(Option)
