  1. Righty Michael Feliz the 3rd of 4 going to Pittsburgh per Rosenthal
  2. Astros trade for Cole...Musgrove and Moran main pieces going back plus 2 others. Not stated who yet. Can't believe Pittsburgh couldn't get more.
  3. More like a disadvantage as it discourages players from coming here.
  4. Without a question there's an injury risk (as is any pitcher, and his TJ was in 2012) but a 5 yr 65 m contract for a quality 2-3 starter...I'd do that deal any day of the week.
  5. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2017/01/royals-danny-duffy-agree-to-five-year-extension.html?fv-home=true&post-id=82937 Duffy and KC agree to 5yr 65 million extension. Was hoping he'd hit the market next year and end up here.
  6. Thanks for the read. Pending injury I'm assuming a September call up but it wouldn't surprise me if he's up earlier in the 2nd half when they can't take Smoak anymore.
  7. Agree completely. If the FO is giving up a pick, it's at least going to be 1year plus an option, most likely 2 years plus an option.
  8. Beltran signed a 1 year deal with Houston a couple weeks ago.
  9. Without going into how illogical your point is, all I can say is that being on your ignore list will be worn as a badge of honour.
  10. Because on paper, EE is a much better player and fit the needs of the club when the off season began. Anything can happen to EE's health, but it can happen to Pearce and Morales ad well. Bottom line is both EE and the FO had a role in how it played out. Here's hoping something happens soon so there is something else to discuss instead of beating the 'old parrot' yet again.
  11. I'm an extremely tolerant person...just not for stupidity.
  12. I think for Jose and from his agent, the most sense for him, especially if considering a one year option is to play wherever he can stay healthy. A combo of 1b and RF offer that more then 'demanding' to be in the outfield daily. No one is going to pay him for his defence anymore in the outfield. There isn't going to be a big difference in salary if he's at 1b or RF next year if he takes a one year deal.
  13. Congrats...You made it first to my ignore list.
  14. The big question though is how many starts can Morales handle at 1b. He hasn't been a regular there for several years and I doubt you want to push it to far over a handful of games especially on the turf.
  15. I agree that players will generally go where the most money is, but Toronto has always had a hard time luring players to play here for reasons mentioned above. For most, a couple million in total salary over 4 year's isn't much. Overpaying to get someone here isn't a good idea. As for the players that have been here and wanted to resign, it's because they were here and saw that Toronto is a great city. The problem is overcoming the stigma that is attached to Toronto by US players as well as the other issues (turf, not relevant for years, further from family, high taxes).
  16. I agree completely that there's no chance we will be in on Harper or Machado, but they're in 2019. There isn't a lot left or even at the beginning in this year's FA pool when compared to next year's.
  17. I think it's some of that but also the FA pool this year is weak. Right now I'd say we're in wild card conversations. Hopefully a couple moves solidify that. I think it's more a case of not over paying for 'marginal' talent this year then keeping that cash flow available so Shapiro and Atkins can put their stamp on this franchise with next year's FA class and have additional depth (prospects) for trades or building blocks.
  18. Think most scouts figured he'd be a 2b,3b or corner outfielder down the road. Has all the makings of a good super utility guy.
  19. Yeah, I hate the contract year argument. I think research only shows a very slight increase in OPS in the contract year for hitters. I think for SP they actually say they perform worse but it is very minimal.
  20. Ha...It was definitely written with a hint of sarcasm. I'm not the smartest guy in the world, but know not to take message boards seriously.
  21. It is pretty obvious 'spittin' meant the AL East. Join Date: 05-04-2013 I hate when people don't capitalize the 'I' and make pointless comments. I also hate when people on boards assume they're better because they have been around an entire two years more then someone else.
  22. Didn't mean we'd end up with Quintana. ..hence the reason I mentioned it as a 3 team deal...something along the lines of Sox get Travis and Glasnow, Pittsburgh gets Quintana and Harris, Toronto gets Cutch and Harrison. Obviously more pieces would need to be involved but just a hypothetical. Honestly though...can't see Pittsburgh moving Cutch right now with his value being down.
  23. If I'm the Jays, I do that deal in a heartbeat. Unfortunately can't see Pittsburgh doing it. From all reports they want young/controllable SP and have reportedly turned down more then your proposal. Wondering if a little tinkering with you idea, add Quintana from the Sox to Pittsburgh and some other odds and ends and we may be on to something for a three team deal.
  24. I agree that Stroman at this point for Cutch straight up makes no sense, but hoping for either Bell or Glasnow as the other pieces without the Jays adding more isn't realistic. Both are MLB ready assets and saying that Stroman is 50 mil more valuable at this point fails to recognize that Glasnow and possibly Bell hold similar if not more value then that with their years of control. For a small market team, a trade like that doesn't make sense.
  25. Not a chance Stroman gets us Cutch plus Bell or Glasgow.
