Do we have data on what his exit velo and launch angle were in previous seasons. Anyone know what the year to year correlation is with those numbers?

Only two seasons worth of data, doubt you'd be able to discern any potential correlation.

I agree, if he keeps his production up I cant see the FO committing to the kind of money and term that he will command (and get from someone).

If he has another big season, that might be the right time to trade him, rather than let him walk and get next to nothing.

Yep. I guess you could just hope, like hell, that Vlad really takes to 3B and flies through the system.

Even if he did late 19' at the earliest?

Vlad won't stick at third, he's definitely a 1B with that bod and athleticism.

you can trade FA's in the first year at the deadline right?

You can trade anyone on your roster anytime you want assuming they don't have a no trade clause.

I believe that prior to May 15th, a recently signed free agent must provide consent to be traded.

well if we're gonna blow it up by the deadline starting with JD, might as well throw Kendry out there too

Nobody is going to want Morales for 2 guaranteed years when you can get a similar player for pennies on the dollar.

Are you sure? I do remember now that if someone accepts a qualifying offer contract you can't trade them without consent until June 15th, but I don't recall anything about signed FAs.

And there I found it. Thanks for educating me. I didn't know this existed.

Edit.

5. An Article XX-B MLB free-agent who signs a Major League contract after 11:59 PM (Eastern) on the 5th day after the final game of the World Series has an automatic "no trade" right through June 15th. The player can waive this right, but if he does he can be traded only for cash and/or player contracts with a maximum aggregate value of $50,000. Note that an Article XX-B MLB free-agent who signs a minor league contract after 11:59 PM (Eastern) on the 5th day after the final game of the World Series does NOT receive an automatic "no trade" right, even if the player is later added to the club's MLB Reserve List (40-man roster).

If he's hitting 2 years at $11.5M is a great contract.
