This is pretty big news. Thought it'd be fun/interesting to hear if you could make 5 improvements to RC what would you do?

1. I'd take out a bunch of suites in the 300/400 Level and open a FlightDeck style open area.

 

2. Take out 3-5K seats and make them much larger and actually face homeplate (100 Level baseline)

 

3. Add in more club seats like the TD zone in the 100 level

 

4. Add in more bars like the Yankees have with the Jim Beam Suite Level.

 

5. Be tough logistically but see if you can do something with the bullpens like they have in other parks where you can watch the players without having a seat in that section.

2. I'd figure out a way to make the upper levels more accessible. Those long concrete ramps one after the other don't seem that efficient. Some more elevator bays, big escalators, and stairways that go up to the upper levels would be nice.

 

3. The Rockies put in a bar area that is standing room only and has like 4 or 5 bars. You pay 15 dollars for standing room up there, 6 of which is recouped in a bar voucher. Given Jays fans' behavior not completely sold that this is a good idea but I think making the Jays game a good place to go hang out in the summer time is a smart move. Could just expand the Flightdeck.

 

4. It's not very visually appealing. Just tons of concrete everywhere. I'm not sure how that could be remedied though.

 

5. Hang a Wild Card banner.

Reasonable:

 

1.) Change the outfield padding and replace with seating. There is a lot of wasted space between the outfield walls and the overhang seating. How about introducing extra seating there, somehow? Maybe include something similar to the first few rows of Petco's CF:

2.) Renovate the look and structure of the bullpen. Make it like the Yankees.

 

3.) Bring back fireworks. I don't know why they stopped doing that

 

4.) Include more areas to congregate and tailgate outside of the ballpark.

 

5.) Improve ventilation/cooling when the dome is closed during hot and muggy games

1. Improved seating in the 100 level. Those seats are way too crammed. They should reduce the overall number of seats and make them larger.

3. Repaint the rails in the 500 sections

 

4. Better food options. I was pretty blown away by the food at Progressive field when I visited this year, it would be awesome to drop Arimark.

 

5. Some statues outside the park to liven the atmosphere.

I like this one. The gap between the OF seats and the wall is too much. Fixing that would help the visual appeal of the stadium IMO.

The food at RC is terrible. Definitely needs to improve. I think some statues would be a great idea as well.

Yes, please. Sweating in a warehouse is not my ideal state of comfort at a professional baseball game. I rarely go to early season games for this reason. Baseball is best experienced outside live or at home on TV.

I'd like to add that they should change the name by incorporating Skydome some how. It's a dated stadium that doesn't really invoke a sense of tradition or history. But in it's day it was state of the art. I think putting Skydome back in the name can inject a little bit of history, tradition and nostalgia that a stadium like that can't really have otherwise.

 

Call it Rogers SkyDome or something like that.

3. They stopped the fireworks cause the new scoreboard dodn't have the circuitry or space for that or whatever.

 

4. That's more the fault of being in the middle of the downtown core and not enough space to begin with. I have no clue how they'd pull this off.

3) The idea of a standing room bar area or food market (works so well in other ballparks like Cleveland, Seattle etc).

 

4) Maybe allow more Gate entrances on the 100 level (I find going through security at the Rogers Centre really slow in comparison to other ballparks).

 

5) Expand the 100 level concourse somehow even if it means taking out some seats (I find for games that are near sellouts, its way too packed).

 

6) Agree with BB about 100 level baseline seats.

 

7) As for the bullpens, maybe could make the standing room bar area close to the bullpens if possible.

 

**I'd definitely restructure the bullpen configurations by maybe putting both on one side of the field, which then could open up the other side either for more seats/bars etc. Though I do think the bullpen setup should definitely be changed.**

 

This might sound far fetched: though would be cool if they could add glass windows or roof (similar to Milwaukee/Arizona) to make it feel more like a ballpark even when the roof is closed. Not sure that could happen and I assume it would be crazy expensive.

If grass still isn't doable, a dirt warning track would probably be appreciated by all outfielders. Not to mention a painted warning track looks ridiculous.

I never sit in the 500Level and its mainly that reason. Not only do they suck to walk up and down but it looks horrible too. Bad lighting and just concrete everywhere.

 

I think taking out seats would be a good idea. Easier to move around, better seating etc.. The prices likely go up a good amount because of that but it'd be a good tradeoff IMO.

Nothing to do with reno's I think most have been covered but tell the vendors not to carry food on their heads. I get thats its for people to see and also helps them maneuver but god damnit theres nothing I hate more than missing the action because the dude with the popcorn is standing in the way for an extended period of time waiting for someone to bite

Denver is a cool city, people are nice, although, the airport is really out of way, but Coors Field is easily accessible and I recommend taking the $10 tour. The wife and I went last year and we got to go through the visitors clubhouse, sit in the dugout, and get really close to stepping onto the field. It is a really beautiful stadium. The tour guide noticed my Blue Jay hat started to talk about Troy T. Again, it is a nice city and cool stadium.

A lot of great ideas.

 

1. I hate the 100 baseline seats. Remove some and rotate so you're looking towards the infield.

 

2. Widen the 100 level concourse. I prefer the 200 level simply because there's less congestion.

 

3. Get the seats up tight with the OF wall somehow....could you move the bullpens to CF? There's so much dead space where the hitters eye is - is there room to put the bullpens at ground level there?

 

4. Better food.

Fewer total seats in the stadium. (Rogers Centre has the 2nd largest seating capacity in the A.L.)

 

I'd love to see the overall foul territory shrunk (which I think is the 2nd largest in the A.L. after Oakland) by shifting the 100 level seats in closer to the diamond (rather than by just adding, say, more TD "In The Action" rows) ... don't know how possible this is with the dugout locations fixed etc., but would make it more intimate by bringing spectators closer to the play.

Shutdown/Teardown the hotel (or some of the hotel), remove all the outfield seats except for the 100/200 levels, and install retracting glass walls/windows to make it less cavernous (like Miller Park https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Miller_Park_(Milwaukee)#/media/File:MillerPark2.jpg or Marlins Park)

3. Tear out some walls and make the concourses open air in the 500s (not sure if possible)

4. More bathrooms or larger bathrooms

I wouldn't mind seeing improvements done outside the stadium. At the moment, it's all just bland concrete. I get that the area needs to be functional, but I wouldn't mind some more greenery. Hopefully, if the rail deck park ever gets built, it would extend to over the tracks.
