Renting a hut is kind of boring especially if no fish are under you. I use my portable hut and move around until I find them.

We got plenty of fish and it still got boring. Not a nice place to be by time you wake up hung over on Sunday morning either.

Everyone around here uses portable huts as well, it's been too risky to leave a hut out on the ice.

I love fishing, I've gone on trips spending 14 hours on the water in an aluminum boat in a single day, but I don't think I'd have the desire to sleep in a fishing hut. Beers only last so long.

We have 2 or 3 guys who don't drop a line all weekend! We bring fish from the Superstore for supper. True story

WTF? Should have just got steaks or something.

I know this isn't usually an option for Southerners, but I love ice fishing in April. There's nothing like sitting on the ice in your T-shirt and catching lake trout.

I'm praying for open water fishing by then.

Lots of beers, lots of weed, lots of blow and still couldn't wait to get my ass out of there. Fishing isn't really my thing. I go out a couple times each winter to stock the freezer with perch and call it a season. I wouldn't ever spend 14 hours in an aluminum boat.

Sometimes it is open here, just depends on the weather. Sitting in the sunshine is just so much nicer than freezing in a hut.

In 4 years the only thing I've caught was a mud puppy. When you're not really into fishing - and you're all f***ed up after a long day in the hit with the boys...let me tell you, the last thing you want to pull out of that hole is a fish with legs!

I took it outside and banged it off the side of the hut until it fell off. f*** that s***.

Are you still talking about the North Bay Strippers?

I had an offer this year for deep sea fishing charter off of Miami. The crowd I would have been with would have been amazing and likely good for my career, but I couldn't justify the cost. I generally annoy people when I fish as I am a talker. So I may as well annoy people at a bar or sporting event instead.

That's the saddest thing I've ever f***ing heard.

No - it gets worse. The guy who organizes the yearly trip used to work as a fish guide wayyyy up north. There's been the odd joke about how poor of a guide he is...

"It's almost like this guy is just here for the halibut"- that sort of thing?

Every trip I go south, I go deep sea fishing. For a couple hundred bucks, the experience is priceless. I will never forget the time at my buddies wedding in DR,we had six trolling lines. We hit a school of Muay Muay and fought five 40+ pound fish for 45 minutes, until we landed them all. Went back into the port and gave all the fish to the boat crew for the family and to some of the local's around the dock. It was an awesome experience.

I read this as

We hit a school of Muay Thai and fought five 40+ pound fish for 45 minutes
and was so confused. Miami was the part that I couldn't afford with these guys, the charter would have been fully paid for.
