Apparently Jarrod Dyson could be traded soon. If the trade cost isn't too high, he'd be an amazing 4th outfielder (maybe even okay getting more at-bats in a platoon with Upton). He just came off a 3.1 WAR season. No power, but speed to burn and great defense.

I've always been a bit of a fan of Dyson.

He'll play a good LF for this team. He'll play a very ok CF for this team. He'll bat leadoff for this team and he has 1 design. Get on base and cause havoc.

See GSnarles, just because I listen to AM radio doesn't mean I'm the most old school guy on the board.

Can we just have his wife instead

Dyson would be a nice guy to have around as a platoon bat/4th outfielder. Much better than Revere IMO.

Edit: just looked at his stats on Fangraphs now and wow. Guy has posted 1.4, 2.5, 3.0, 1.8, and 3.1 WAR since 2012. And thats with limited playing time. I thought only last season was his real breakout season, but he's been really good for the last 5 years.

He's never gotten a proper chance, in K.C. And yes, waaaay better than Revere.

Jarrod Dyson is basically a poor man's Billy Hamilton. What he lacks in speed and slightly better outfield defense, he makes up for it by being a better hitter than Hamilton.

Yes. 100 times yes.

What would GMDM ask for Dyson, I wonder? He and Yost don't seem too high on the guy. McGuire or Ramirez and Smoak, we eat half the salary? Edited by Spanky99

Dyson in a platoon with Upton would be great value. If you add Fowler and Dyson, that's a huge improvement.

Don't know what it would cost but it might be the cheapest 3 WAR available.

No doubt, plus plenty of cash to go around, IMO. Matt Holliday would make sense after that... and a studly LHP.

That OF would be something to watch in the field and on the bases.

This is the type of lineup I thought Shatkins would try and build. Transition away from a "power offense". More defense, more speed - build around a good pitching staff.

Jaysblue stealing my thunder... it's okay though, he better win his football match-up, lol.

One thing about Dyson I wonder about is how his numbers would transition to playing at RC. Almost like the opposite of Morales he could lose some of his extra base hits because RC and the AL East have smaller ballparks taking away his Triples and a few Doubles. His defense might not be as great valuable either playing in these smaller (though Pillar might debunk that)

Anyone see any studies done on this?

Saw that Edwin is expected to sign during the winter meetings.

Yep, with the Astros and the Redsox out apparently its just a two or three teams. Not including the NL, the only teams I count are Jays, Yankees, Angels and Rangers.

I cant imagine the Yankees doing a deal for EE, they like Sanchez as a long term DH option, plus they have gone away from overpaying older player. With Harper and Company becoming free agents soon, they probably want to keep the payroll room. I think its just Rangers and Jays, and I hate to say it but it might be the Rangers, because Shatkins may not be serious about bringing EE back. The Draft pick is probably too enticing for them.

Dyson's projected arb salary is $2.5m by mlbtr. Getting him would give the Jays a ton of money to improve elsewhere as well. I have wanted the Jays to get him for 3 years now. The Royals did not use him as much as they should have.

My dark horse favourite for Edwin are the Nats.

I would f***ing love that. Nats are my second favourite team. Turner-Murphy-Edwin-Harper would be one of the best top 4 in all of baseball, plus their rotation is still pretty stacked as long as Stras is healthy.
