Grant77 Old-Timey Member Posted October 22, 2016 Posted October 22, 2016 Nah. That K/9 is horrendous for a player at his level. For as poor as Sanchez' control was in the minors he still had swing and miss stuff. Green needs A LOT of work. Sanchez had pretty similar K numbers. You miss a lot by only looking at statistics and ignoring the type of stuff he has. That's why most of the forum whiffed on Sanchez. BA had him in their most recent top 100 if you need a second opinion.

Sanchez struck out nearly 10 K/9 on average through all Single A levels.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted October 22, 2016 Posted October 22, 2016 I still think EE is signing here. He's not going anywhere
ChrisS Verified Member Posted October 22, 2016 Posted October 22, 2016 I still think EE is signing here. I agree. After the season he had, that wild card walk-off and the clear love that this fan base has for him I could see him wanting to stay and maybe even retire as a Blue Jay. If the term is right for him I could see him taking a discount to stay, especially because at this point even a hometown discount equates to probably more money than he is ever likely to spend. I really hope we can bring him back. I feel that Rogers should put more money in this coming season. If you look at the TV ratings and buzz across the country that this team generated the last 15 months, bringing back EE would be a big step in maintaining it imo.
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted October 22, 2016 Posted October 22, 2016 We have to be the only fans in baseball lobbying for our team to sign Eric Thames...
Grant77 Old-Timey Member Posted October 22, 2016 Posted October 22, 2016 Green struck out 5 K/9 in Single A lol. Sanchez struck out nearly 10 K/9 on average through all Single A levels. First things first, Sanchez had a 7.8 K/9 at that level and Green has a 6.6 K/9. Take an objective look at his statistics and scouting reports and get back to me. Nobody is impressed by false statistics.
Slade Old-Timey Member Posted October 22, 2016 Posted October 22, 2016 I still think EE is signing here. And it still makes a lot of sense for us to keep him. I'm kind of worried that we resign EE, offer Jose the QO and he accepts. Financially that's not bad but then we haven't really gotten better as a team if that happens.
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted October 22, 2016 Posted October 22, 2016 Holliday on a one year deal (+ club option) would be a great balance of upside with limited risk. He may not give each us the ceiling of EE or Jose, but he isn't going carry the risk of massive dollars and years.
Dr Negative Verified Member Posted October 22, 2016 Posted October 22, 2016 We have to be the only fans in baseball lobbying for our team to sign Eric Thames... Bring back Randy Ruiz, that's what I say.

It's really hard to get a feel on what Bautista's market is. He's iffy in the OF, especially now that he has a noodle arm. He's coming off a down year, and a lot of people around the league seem to dislike him. Many teams may not be willing to take that on. At the same time, GMs tend to pay for power.
saskjayfan Old-Timey Member Posted October 22, 2016 Posted October 22, 2016 We have to be the only fans in baseball lobbying for our team to sign Eric Thames... nope...Thames is a hot commodity since jung ho Kang and Hyun soo Kim have had some success... http://forum.brewerfan.net/viewtopic.php?f=66&t=33892

jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted October 22, 2016 Posted October 22, 2016 Ugh. This thread is getting me so pumped for the offseason. So many options and big decisions to make!

Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted October 22, 2016 Posted October 22, 2016 44th in MLB in wRC+ in a down year....still very productive even if he should stick to DH and keep his mouth shut more I don't think he necessarily has to be a DH. He's probably average to above average defensively at 1B if he plays there all season. Keeping his mouth shut should be part of his next contract though.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted October 22, 2016 Posted October 22, 2016 How does this sound? RF - Fowler or Reddick 1B - Pearce or Thames DH - Holliday Perfect
THANOS Old-Timey Member Posted October 22, 2016 Posted October 22, 2016 Perfect I think Thames and Holliday could be accomplished with 1 year deals a piece as well, leaving it open for Tellez in 2018. Either that, or sign Eddy to a 4 yr deal and one of Thames/Holliday/Pearce to a 1 yr until Tellez us ready.
jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted October 22, 2016 Posted October 22, 2016 Eric Thames really? Maybe for 500K. Or documented proof of insane steroid usage overseas. Enough to get him through next year. Everyone needs a little chocolate thunder in their lives every now and then. I'd take a flier on him on a one year deal.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted October 22, 2016 Posted October 22, 2016 How does this sound? RF - Fowler or Reddick 1B - Pearce or Thames DH - Holliday I'd prefer Fowler to Reddick, but for some reason I get the feeling Reddick might be the easier sign. Fowler won't play CF in Toronto and that might be important to him. I'd also prefer Pearce to Thames for obvious reasons. Otherwise, count me in. Holliday makes so much sense for this roster given the way it is constructed that it will be a shame if/when it doesn't happen. Pearce too. Let's see Atkins work some magic here. Also, I've said this the past two off-seasons so I'll say it again, trade for Jarrod Dyson. Not sure how, or what it would take, or even if KC would want to do it given how cheap/valuable he is, but find a way. Underrated as hell.
ILikeSoccerandBaseball09 Verified Member Posted October 22, 2016 Posted October 22, 2016 Pillar might get traded, but i doubt he's worth much. How much could we get for him?
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted October 22, 2016 Posted October 22, 2016 Pillar might get traded, but i doubt he's worth much. How much could we get for him? Well, he was 12th in WAR amongst center fielders last year, which is ahead of some pretty big recognizable names earning a lot of money. In 2015 he was 7th in the league.

ChrisS Verified Member Posted October 22, 2016 Posted October 22, 2016 When looking at $$/WAR why would we consider moving Pillar or Stroman? Sure we might be able to get something good in return but more than likely they aren't going to be making league minimum and under control.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted October 22, 2016 Posted October 22, 2016 who the hell is considering moving Stroman?
ILikeSoccerandBaseball09 Verified Member Posted October 22, 2016 Posted October 22, 2016 who the hell is considering moving Stroman? Wilner mentioned it, Tim and Sid, McCown Blundell in the morning on 590.
ChrisS Verified Member Posted October 22, 2016 Posted October 22, 2016 Wilner mentioned it, Tim and Sid, McCown Blundell in the morning on 590. Yeah they were talking about it today, iirc said something to the effect that the Jays would listen to offers.
