Not sure if anyone posted this but Shapiro yesterday confirmed Gibbons is coming back next year

I dont understand why people would think that a team that is in the ALCS will have a managerial change. Bringing in a manager is what you do when you restart things.

Brett Cecil is fantastic vs RHH as well as lefties. I hate wasting him for 1 or 2 PA when he is good enough to pitch an entire inning.

Well, fantastic is a bit of a stretch, but yeah, he's definitely more than just a LOOGY. So yeah, I don't want him facing Napoli, but I'm not too concerned with guys like Ramirez. You want the lefty in for Crisp, for sure, and keeping Cecil in got us the matchup of Guyer instead of Naquin against the righty. You don't worry as much about matchups for the guys with a sub-.700 OPS like Davis.

I'm not a big fan of Gibby in a lot of things he does, but yeah, the fact that he's willing to do stuff like Donaldson 2nd, Bats leadoff, doesn't bunt, etc... at least gives me enough to live on. Would like him to be a bit more creative in the pen, or at least not just use the same 3-4 guys over and over, but then again, not like we really trust the back of the pen that much anyways, so can't fault him for a crappy roster. Even using Osuna with the 4 run lead, he was at least warming up Loup. I think if we got to the 5 run lead he would have held off on Osuna, but the fact that Osuna was already warming up from the previous inning means it doesn't cost us as much to just bring him in and lock down the win. Especially with the meat of their lineup up, can't take too many chances with them. Were it their 7-8-9 hitters up, then yeah, I think you save Osuna.

What Cecil did in low leverage situations throughout the season vs how he's performed this postseason are two very different things. In his first two postseason appearances, he faced one lefty and walked him both times. He's not in the circle of trust right now.

He's in my circle of trust, he's been fantastic since late August onward. Sure he has 3 walks in the postseason, but I don't see any glowing concerns. I have confidence in the guy.

1.98 xFIP in the 2nd half of the season with a 35.9% K-rate but because he walked 2 guys in the postseason he isn't in the circle of trust?

Thats stupid. He was fantastic yesterday.

Fill us in why don't ya

He was cracking jokes at reporters and made a slick reference to Bautista's quote, I'd rather not poorly explain it to you and instead give you a link when it comes out lol

Asked what inspirational message he would post in the clubhouse, Gibbons replied: "We let Bautista do that."

#Indians reporter asking about the roof. PR person states it’s an MLB decision.

Wait, using Osuna with a 4 run lead is egregious. But if it's a 3 run lead it's fine. OK.

Save statistic is super important.

He's got to go,as much as I like the man,he's definately out to lunch.

Bautista playing right field, while Upton D/H's is as close to insanity as one can get.

Completely crazy.

It's funny people keep falling for this. Yes it could happen but no way in a million years was he going to say anything else.

I like Gibbons the person, not a fan of Gibbons the manager. At the end of the day, he hasn't done anything to be fired. Questionable moves? Sure. Fireable? Not at all. If he is fired and Bud Black is brought on, that'd be gravy but not betting on it.

I cant imagine any GM ever saying "hes going to be fired" before the biggest game of the year.

Yup. Confirmed by Shapiro.

I guess this thread can go away until next season.

He hasn't said this since we lost the series has he?...I'm pretty for sure the report was from early like fatcowxlive reported
