GD Old-Timey Member Posted October 12, 2016 Posted October 12, 2016 How is that offensive? I was saying Jewish people in WW2 got basically killed off but you never hear their communities protesting in the streets, or making a fuss about something that happened a lot more recently than Native American's getting killed, how is that offensive.... So f***ing dumb
Grant77 Old-Timey Member Posted October 12, 2016 Posted October 12, 2016 Ok. Why didn't Francona master tactish his team into the playoffs in 2011? His team, the one he managed completely collapsed in September. What did Francona do to cause that? Likewise, John Farrell won a world series two years later. What did he do to cause that? So Miller is going to come out in the 5th. We got it. He may be better, the resume certainly is. But the chances that a manager is going to make any kind of significant difference in this series is very minimal. I don't agree. I think that the chances are rather high. Managers make good decisions all of the time, bad ones too. Any of those could decide a short series like this, just look at what Buck Showalter did. What's up for debate is whether managers can make decisions with good outcomes on a consistent basis. I lean towards no. It's just as likely that Franconia makes bad decisions that cost them the series or that Gibby makes good ones.

GD Old-Timey Member Posted October 12, 2016 Posted October 12, 2016 The Jays now have the most recent WS win of any remaining team.

AdamLindsMom Verified Member Posted October 12, 2016 Posted October 12, 2016 Gibbons is not old school. Just because he talks with an accent doesn't make him an old school retard. We do very few things that are old school. We had Bautista lead off, we don't steal bases. He doesn't go to 120 pitch counts with SPs. He doesn't ignore youngsters that are good (He gave Castro and Osuna shots at closing right away. Travis at leadoff. Biagini in high leverage). He uses Osuna in the 8th and doesn't save him like Showalter. We don't really bunt that much. The things he does that are not old school are way ahead of his old school things like 7-8-9 bullpen hierarchy and giving a "contact" hitter like Pillar 2 weeks at leadoff. Martin ahead of Tulo JB/JD bunting

CBlake Verified Member Posted October 12, 2016 Posted October 12, 2016 Have my tickets for game 3 and 4, when will it be best to jump on a game 5 ticket, when the start times are announced and people get stuck with tickets, etc? Fully expecting the ALCS to be the early games in Tuesday and Wednesday. Last year with game 5 being in the afternoon, the floor fell out on stubhub.

AdamLindsMom Verified Member Posted October 12, 2016 Posted October 12, 2016 I had a really hard time getting face for my 100 levels in alcs last year
CBlake Verified Member Posted October 12, 2016 Posted October 12, 2016 They had facial hair rules? Yep.
mikebel111 Verified Member Posted October 12, 2016 Posted October 12, 2016 Yep. Thats odd considering Brendan Ryan who played for them last year had maybe the worst moustache in the league last year.

Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted October 12, 2016 Posted October 12, 2016 Starting pitching: Jays 1 - Indians 0 huge advantage Hitting: Jays 1 - Indians 0 slightly advantage Coach: Jays 0 - Indians 1 huge advantage Bullpens: Jays 0 - Indians 1 huge advantage Gonna be a close series but I believe the ultimate deciding factor is John Gibbons vs Francona and it's not even close. In my opinion Indians will beat the Blue Jays 4-3 in 7 with Francona is the ultimate deciding factor in the outcome. Sad but most probably the outcome. lol
ChrisS Verified Member Posted October 12, 2016 Posted October 12, 2016 lol Yeah I wouldnt say we have a huge advantage with starting pitching, its pretty much equal. I just hope our lineup can hit Miller like they have done historically. If they can we have a very good shot at this.

We certainly have the advantage in concern of the SP, if they had Carrasco and Salazar starting, it'd be more equal, Tomlin seems to righted the ship, we have a slight advantage. It's going to be a good/tough series.

Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted October 12, 2016 Posted October 12, 2016 Salazar is supposed to be returning for the ALCS. Possibly returning as a reliever, yeah, I heard that today.
Rusty_Savage Verified Member Posted October 12, 2016 Posted October 12, 2016 They had facial hair rules? It's why Johnny Damon had to cut his hair/beard when he signed with them. I think the Marlins also have one.
fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted October 12, 2016 Author Posted October 12, 2016 Is Pompey on the roster? The roster hasn't been released yet. The Jays did indicate that the roster leans on the health of Liriano. I think they have until 10am Friday (or maybe Thursday?) to submit the ALCS roster, and if Liriano will be healthy enough to go we probably see Pompey, if not then we might still carry Tepera like last series.

The Indians are very good at playing matchup. All things considered I rather have the extra relief arm than Pompey, who Gibby wont use anyways.
LGBJ29 Verified Member Posted October 12, 2016 Posted October 12, 2016 Martin ahead of Tulo JB/JD bunting JB and JD try to bunt on their own. If you actually think that decision comes from the dugout you're out to lunch
CrackerJack Verified Member Posted October 12, 2016 Posted October 12, 2016 yes, Gibbons had Donaldson & Bautista square around!!! hahahah
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted October 12, 2016 Posted October 12, 2016 Kluber could be starting 3 games this series. I think he could be the key factor

I'm still not clear on how these concussion rules work. Can we have a player like Tepera on the roster and simply replace him with Liriano when the 7 days are up without losing Tepera for the next series? That's how it should be if they want to provide incentives for resting concussed players.
Pendleton Old-Timey Member Posted October 12, 2016 Posted October 12, 2016 Kluber could be starting 3 games this series. I think he could be the key factor It could go either way though, they may limit his effectiveness by pitching back to back games on short rest.
