I saw the post game interview with him where he said "don't worry, everything's ok". But I have doubts. Really need this guy to be ok, anyone have any further updates?

Said he felt a "stretch" in his arm. That sounds... like, not good? lol

Was "stretch" the medical diagnosis for what happened to that kid in "Rookie of the Year"?

Guys, this might turn out juuuuuust fine for us.

I too found it odd that he was so willing to pull himself out of an elimination game in extra innings and now he says he's ready for Friday?

He wasn't willing? Edwin saw him wince and called the training staff over lol if Edwin didn't see that and talk to him he would have continued to pitch, he said that he felt it the pitch before the last one he threw

Hmm, do you guys think he just made up a phantom injury? Maybe Gibby and Co concocted a plan that this would allow Liriano free reign to do whatever he wants

It's really weird for him to be able to say he'll be good for the ALDS

Everyone told me this wasn't possible in the GDT...but I still think it's what happened.

That's even worse lol

yeah lol I have no idea how he said he was OK and just felt tired, a stretch in shoulder does not sound good at all. They had to take a closer look at him today right?

You think with the weight of playoff elimination staring the whole team in the face that Gibby, Osuna, and EE mind melded from different corners of the stadium to invent a reason to remove an ace relief pitcher from the ballgame?

It could be some weird Gibby tactics, but here's why I don't think that's the case:

1) Osuna was seen wincing hard after throwing the second last pitch

2) Pretty sure Gibbons wanted 2 innings from Osuna and Liriano would have to come in the inning after

3) Francisco liriano was warming between innings for like 3 half innings and throwing in the BP since Osuna came in. I think that should have been more than enough to be ready, no?

Maybe it was a phantom injury because you can have your reliever throw as many pitches to get warmed as possible... but if that was the case why say something so unbelievable like a "stretch in the shoulder", that's not something you can "walk it off" lol that means something is serious there.

I would make Osuna sit out games 1&2 just to be safe. We should be able to manage with just Biagini/Cecil/Grilli/Liriano.

I trust Estrada and Happ to pitch at least 6 innings and I trust our offense to score enough that Osuna won't really be needed.

lol every time the Jays say that it turns out to be a big deal. in other words don't expect Osuna to pitch.

ARLINGTON -- The biggest question mark for the Blue Jays entering their American League Division Series rematch against the Rangers surrounds the availability of closer Roberto Osuna.

Osuna was removed during the 10th inning of Tuesday's AL Wild Card Game win over Baltimore because of a right shoulder injury. He reported to Globe Life Park in Arlington on Wednesday and was feeling better, but it's not immediately clear whether he will be ready for Thursday's Game 1 (4:30 p.m. ET/3:30 p.m. CT on TBS in the United States and in English on Sportsnet and in French on TVA in Canada).

Blue Jays manager John Gibbons was asked a series of questions Wednesday afternoon about Osuna's status, but for the most part he remained coy. Aside from confirming that Osuna will be on the roster, the details were scarce as the club appears to be playing a bit of gamesmanship.

"He feels better today," Gibbons said. "We'll see, not sure what's going to happen [Thursday]. We don't think it's going to be a big deal but it's probably wise to be a little bit cautious this time of year. But he feels better today."

Osuna was in the trainer's room at Rogers Centre getting treatment when Edwin Encarnacion hit a walk-off three-run homer vs. the Orioles in the Wild Card Game. The native of Mexico ran onto the field to celebrate, but afterward told reporters that doctors said he would likely need a couple of days of rest.

The injury appears to be related to the heavy workload he went through during the final stretch of the regular season. Osuna has pitched in all but four of Toronto's previous 11 games and tossed 8 1/3 innings over that stretch while throwing 156 pitches. According to Osuna, the medical staff told him he wasn't "hurt" but instead was experiencing fatigue which led to a stretching sensation in his shoulder.

Osuna did not speak to the media Wednesday afternoon, but the night before he expressed optimism about being able to resume his normal role against the Rangers.

"The doctor told me that I was going to be fine," said Osuna, who posted a 2.68 ERA and 36 saves during the regular season. "I just need a couple of days off. I have been pitching a lot lately and he thinks it's just fatigue because of the last two weeks."

If Osuna cannot go, Toronto will have to use a patchwork solution to fill the void at the end of the bullpen. Right-hander Jason Grilli becomes a prime candidate to enter for a possible save opportunity, while left-hander Francisco Liriano will continue to see a prominent role at the end of games.

Liriano has spent most of his career as a starter, but he made two relief appearances in early September and was moved back to the bullpen at the start of the postseason. He picked up the victory over Baltimore by tossing 1 2/3 scoreless innings after Osuna came out of the game and he's expected to be an X-factor once again heading into this series.

The 11-year veteran will join forces with Rule 5 Draft pick Joe Biagini, fellow lefty Brett Cecil and Grilli to form the core of Toronto's bullpen with or without Osuna in the closer mix.

"He's got the stuff to be a very good reliever," Gibbons said of Liriano. "He can be a very good starter if he throws the ball over the plate. He can handle both sides, lefty/righty, doesn't matter and he gets strikeouts and ground balls. I would expect he would be very valuable this series, however far this goes."

To me, missing your closer for any playoff games is kind of a big deal. Hopefully he's alright, although obviously better to sit him out an extra day than pitch him, make the injury worse, and lose him for the remainder of the playoffs or any part of next year.

So the doctors pretty much confirm that Osuna got injured because Gibby overused him.

Well s***, who could've seen this coming? Gibbons is such a dumbass.

I'm pretty neutral when it comes to Gibby, but I don't think he had much of a choice.

Yeah, I hate a lot about Gibby's usage, but you can't really fault him for over-using our only reliable relief arm. If we had anyone else who we trusted, yeah, would have been nice to save Osuna a bit more down the stretch.

If there is a stretch in Osunas shoulder it's not one or two games

More like 1-2 years
