King Old-Timey Member Posted October 5, 2016 Posted October 5, 2016 Lost in the Britton madness and discussion of the big Wild Card win is that we are going up against the Rangers in the first round of the playoffs. There are so many storylines involved in this series. It's going to be amazing! Sounds like Hamels is going to start game 1, for Texas. We're going to the playoffs boys!!!!
Spoonovic Verified Member Posted October 5, 2016 Posted October 5, 2016 Lets go! Who's going to pitch game one? I am guessing Happ followed by Sanchez?
thatoneguy Old-Timey Member Posted October 5, 2016 Posted October 5, 2016 f*** you with a rusty pipe Odor
Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted October 5, 2016 Posted October 5, 2016 Do we throw at Odor at all?...my guess is yes at some point.
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted October 5, 2016 Posted October 5, 2016 I hope to god the Jays do not start a beanball war.

I wouldn't call Darvish and Hamels mediocre.
bones10 Old-Timey Member Posted October 5, 2016 Posted October 5, 2016 I wouldn't call Darvish and Hamels mediocre. I wouldn't either.
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted October 5, 2016 Posted October 5, 2016 If Texas throws Hamel and Darvish in Texas they'll throw Perez and one of Holland or Lewis in TO. Possibly against Sanchez and Stroman? Happ could go Game 1 and Sanchez could go Game 2, both on regular rest. And then go Estrada and Stroman in TO. I'd strongly considering that.
ILikeSoccerandBaseball09 Verified Member Posted October 5, 2016 Posted October 5, 2016 Hamels is good, but Yu is a question mark. After those guys were good.
BlueRocky Old-Timey Member Posted October 5, 2016 Posted October 5, 2016 Their offense isn't as good as Redsox and jay's starters have been sensational. We'll be fine.
bones10 Old-Timey Member Posted October 5, 2016 Posted October 5, 2016 Their offense isn't as good as Redsox and jay's starters have been sensational. We'll be fine. Its not even better than the orioles, actually. Team wRC+ of 98 while the Orioles sit at 101.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted October 5, 2016 Posted October 5, 2016 Hamels is good, but Yu is a question mark. After those guys were good. What? Yu is great, probably a lot better than Hamels actually.
King Old-Timey Member Posted October 5, 2016 Author Posted October 5, 2016 Shin Soo Choo could be back for the start of the playoffs.
CBlake Verified Member Posted October 5, 2016 Posted October 5, 2016 So whose Thanksgiving dinner plans might throw a wrench in this?

I can guarantee you that the Texas Rangers will not hesitate to start their best pitcher as soon as the opportunity presents itself.
Grant77 Old-Timey Member Posted October 5, 2016 Posted October 5, 2016 I can guarantee you that the Texas Rangers will not hesitate to start their best pitcher as soon as the opportunity presents itself. I would have guaranteed that the Orioles would do the same before the game, lol.

Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted October 5, 2016 Posted October 5, 2016 I'm so pumped for this series! We have a chance to get the last punch against Texas litterally!
JoeCarter Verified Member Posted October 5, 2016 Posted October 5, 2016 Rotation more or less sets itself this go-around. Thurs (4:30p): Happ/Estrada Fri (1p): Sanchez Sun (8p): Estrada/Happ Mon (TBD): Stroman Wed (TBD): Sanchez 2 Sanchez starts on regular rest, only decision is whether you want Stro for game 3 or 4; prob doesn't matter too much. I'd start Happ in Game 1, bc he can then be a valuable lefty out of the pen in any of games 3, 4, or 5. If Happ doesn't start til game 3, he realistically can only be used out of pen in game 5.

Yeah I like Happ in Game 1 and Sanchez getting two starts. Texas will get to throw Hamels twice but they'll have to throw two shitballers in Perez and then one of Holland or Lewis. If they throw Hamel and Darvish first they have to pray to god they win them both otherwise they will be tasked with winning road games with big pitching matchup disadvantages and against Sanchez in Game 5.

As long as they let the baseball do the talking and stay out of the circus surrounding the series. Let the Rangers blow themselves up. But yeah, that would be sweet.
43211234 Verified Member Posted October 5, 2016 Posted October 5, 2016 Made it to the division series after all that happened in September. Feeling good about the chances against Texas.
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted October 5, 2016 Posted October 5, 2016 Have to feel pretty good about the starting pitcher depth now that the Jays can actually use it. Getting passed the Wild Card game was huge.
Belliss101 Old-Timey Member Posted October 5, 2016 Posted October 5, 2016 3-0 this October. September now fully in the rear view mirror!
