I steered clear of here until about half an hour ago, but now that I'm online I'm getting very nervous and am not able to focus on work.

I won't be home until 10:30 so will have to watch on PVR.... Hope the boys bring it tonight, see you all on the other side.

Wow... what do you do?? If I had to work I'd listen to it on the radio. I wouldn't take the chance that I'd hear the score.

Game doesn't start until 8:07 :)

Actually???? I thought it was a 7pm game!!! Great! Thanks! lol

For future reference can whoever's making the GDT throw the time in the title please

The wave is ridiculous. I mean in a soccer game that's boring as hell like 0-0 after 80 min of play, go for it. Hell that's probably more entertaining the product you paid tickets for. But in baseball I like to watch every pitch and when someone is yelling ONE.. TWO... THREE for 3 innings in a row to try to make it happen is actually more annoying then the wave itself imo. Some idiot standing with his back against the game saying C'MON EVERYONE ALL TOGETHER!!!!@!@!@!! Like stfu I'm trying to watch the game here not your drunken face. I'd rather you use the same energy and go nuts when Stro strikes out the 3rd out of an inning.

LOL see I don't mind the wave, but I hate the drunk "I'm gonna be the comedian" guy going, "SHEEEY EVERYONE LETSH START THE WAVE!!!"

The same type of people who jeer "AAAAAAADAAAAAAM JOOOOOOOOONES YOU SUCK BUD!!!!" proudly from the back of the 500 level lol

Side note: The only time I've ever seen it work was in LF 100 level seats, and the A's were in town (this was like 2009) and Matt Holliday was in left and this guy and his buddy were relentlessly jeering him the whole game and like the 5th or 6th inning after turning around looking up a few times he did a shusshing gesture or something lol

I am not even sure I will be able to take my afternoon nap ( : feeling the nerves way too much.

Have a care for those of us in the UK. Game time 2am so maybe a herbal remedy to get me to kip before nine. Grabbing an hour or so afterwards will be an exercise in futility no matter what but especially if all goes well.

Wish it was a best of 3 or 5. Hate single elimination games as anything can happen and the best team doesnt always win. Go JAYS

Shout out to the mods for the game tonight to be heavy with the ban hammer please.

I'm sure the trolls will be out in full force trying to f*** up this historic(our first WC Game) GDT with their attention craving posts calling the game over in the first 2 innings if the O's score a run etc.

KingKat maybe. There will likely not be any mods around. Chappy has been MIA, North will be at the game, Deadpool hasn't done anything as a mod. Hurl might be. I wouldn't want to spend the game modding this s*** show of a thread if I were them.

And o2, will likely have the ban hammer out in full force I guess. Depends on if we are losing and he is pissed off or not.

Best team doesn't always win best of 3, 5 or 7 either but it does help the probabilities. KC had the golden horseshoe up their asses last year and they rode an inflated BABIP, Cecil injury, bad strike calls and Alcides Escobar (of all f***ing people to lead off) against us to the WS ring.

They can't really make all teams cool off and wait that long to start the real playoffs just for a wild card spot or push the WS in to winter. A best 2 of 3 maybe but that's still pushing it. I'm one of the few who don't have a problem with it, it's the price you pay for not winning your division. If we are going to complain they can just as easily go back to 1 wild card spot and a tiebreaker game, consider tonight the tiebreaker game.

I THINK I'll be around and my patience does tend to wear thin during tense playoff games. Banning can actually be kind of cathartic in those moment. I banned countless guys last year and I feel myself rounding into playoff form.

I disagree with you guys. Wildcard SHOULD be a 1 game tiebreaker-style elimination. Gives everyone extra incentive to push hard for winning the division.

I have a yappy brother in law casual visiting me from TOR tonight who wants to watch the game with me. I had to warn him not to talk too much and if we are losing I may become uncontrollably irrational and violent.

Lets go Jays!! Get the bats rolling tonight.

Gross. I would tell them not to come over.

Question- Under the old rules when there was only 1 Wildcard team per league..Would we have won that spot outright due to winning season series, or would we have played Baltimore in a tie breaker game?

I get that...I love GDTs. Its a virtual way to watch the Jays with passionate non casual fans. It is a shame the trolls and overly reactionary posters make it unreadable sometimes.

Tiebreaker, in other words exactly the same situation as now. The 2nd wild card actually ended up being irrelevant this year.

I believe the only difference was a coin flip to decide home field advantage for the game instead of head to head record.

I would but I cant. I already tried but I agreed to dinner with him last week here in Calgary when she told me he was coming in from TOR. But at that time I didn't know it would be WC night!! I tried to cancel but he is from my wifes side and she wont have it.

OTOH he does work for Rogers and has gotten me tickets a few times so I think I just have to suck it up.

I don't think the length of the series makes any difference. Being a wild card team cuts your chances in half regardless of the number of games.

In my experience, the playoff threads are more fun to moderate than the regular ones. During the season, most of the tension is between long time posters and assigning blame can be thorny because there's usually an escalation of things that goes back really far. In the playoffs, it's mostly new posters popping up and causing s*** which is easier to deal with than ongoing board politics. You ban a few, tell the rest to f*** off and get on with things. The regular posters tend to behave because much like the players themselves they don't want to get ejected when the stakes are highest.

Does he have a lot of opinions? That's the worst for me. Not merely being chatty, not merely being ignorant about the game but the mix of chatty, ignorant AND opinionated.
