GodDonaldson Verified Member Posted October 1, 2016 Posted October 1, 2016 Season series TOR: 10-9 vs BAL, 4-3 vs DET, 3-3 vs SEA BAL: 9-10 vs TOR, 5-2 vs DET, 1-6 vs SEA DET: 3-4 vs TOR, 2-5 vs BAL, 4-3 vs SEA SEA: 3-3 vs TOR, 6-1 vs BAL, 3-4 vs DET SCENARIO 1: If the Jays win their remaining two games (not likely to happen) 1) If Baltimore also wins their remaining two, they will be in the first spot, and the Jays will be in the second spot.. That means the Jays will play at Baltimore for a wildcard game. If the Tigers win all of their remaining games at the same time, that means the Jays may have to play tiebreaker against the Tigers before playing a wildcard game. Since the Blue Jays won the season series against the Tigers, it will be at Toronto 2) If Baltimore goes 1-1, the Jays are tied with them. Since the Jays won the season series against the O's, the wildcard game will be happening in Toronto. If the Tigers win all of their remaining games at the same time, three of them are tied. In this case, Detroit will be at Baltimore for a tie-breaker and the winner will face the Jays in Toronto. (Since Toronto has better record against both teams) 3) If Baltimore goes 0-2, the Jays clinch the first spot regardless.. NOTE: Seattle is eliminated if the Blue Jays win their remaining two games. Scenario 2: If the Jays are 1-1 1) If the O's are 2-0, or 1-1 they are in the first spot regardless. If the Tigers are 2-1 at the same time (including a make-up game against CLE), the Jays will play tiebreaker with them in Toronto. If the Tigers are 3-0, Tigers are in the second spot, and the Jays are done. 2) If the O's are 0-2, and the Tigers win no more than 2 games, the Jays and the O's are tied.. That means, a wildcard game in Toronto If the Tigers are 2-1 at the same time, three teams are tied. So DET at BAL, and the winner will face the Jays in Toronto If the Tigers are 3-0 at the same time, they will be in the first wildcard spot, so Baltimore will play tiebreaker in Toronto. Seattle need to win their remaining games to play at least a tiebreaker or they are done. Scenario 3: If the Jays are 0-2 (Swept) 1) The Orioles are in the first spot regardless. 2 If the Tigers are 2-1 or 3-0 in their remaining games (including a make-up game against CLE), the Tigers are in, and the Jays are DONE 3) If the Tigers are 1-2, the Jays will play the Tigers in the tie-breaker in Toronto -If the Mariners win all three, it will be SEA at DET for a tie breaker (Jays are done) -If the Mariners are 2-1, that will be three way tie... and it will get more complicated 4) If the Tigers are 0-3, the Jays will clinch and play at Baltimore for a wildcard game. So I think we will make it to at least a tie-breaker if we win just 1 of our next 2, but looks like we are gonna get swept and we need to think about some worst scenarios..

BTS Community Moderator Posted October 1, 2016 Posted October 1, 2016 Biggest game of JA Happ's career tomorrow. Zimmermann vs. maybe the worst starter in baseball tomorrow in Aaron Blair.

GoJays1562 Verified Member Posted October 1, 2016 Posted October 1, 2016 Just win one and we have a good shot of at least a tie breaker. We have 2 of our best pitchers going the next two days. I just hope our god awful offense some how scratches some runs on the board.

Maahfaace Verified Member Posted October 1, 2016 Posted October 1, 2016 At least the Jays still control their own destiny. Need some bats to show up tomorrow against a s*** lefty.
GodDonaldson Verified Member Posted October 1, 2016 Author Posted October 1, 2016 At least the Jays still control their own destiny. Need some bats to show up tomorrow against a s*** lefty. Yeah.. I think we won't win a game against Price.
harvey16 Verified Member Posted October 1, 2016 Posted October 1, 2016 "-If the Mariners are 2-1, that will be three way tie... and it will get more complicated" How would this actually play out?? I'm curious. There is actually still a possibility of a 4 way tie too (Jays 1-1, Os 0-2, Det 2-1, Ms 2-0)
West Texas Forever Old-Timey Member Posted October 1, 2016 Posted October 1, 2016 I'll have my popcorn ready.

STLJaysFan Verified Member Posted October 1, 2016 Posted October 1, 2016 Baltimore's game will probably be about over by the time Toronto's game begins tomorrow so it'll be scoreboard watching pre and post-game.
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted October 1, 2016 Posted October 1, 2016 What are the odds Price throws the final game for the Sox? Not very good right?
GodDonaldson Verified Member Posted October 1, 2016 Author Posted October 1, 2016 What are the odds Price throws the final game for the Sox? Not very good right? I think if Price pitches on Sunday, I'm 99% sure the Jays will lose
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted October 1, 2016 Posted October 1, 2016 I think if Price pitches on Sunday, I'm 99% sure the Jays will lose Rangers should lock up the #1 spot if they haven't already. I doubt they throw Price as it should be a meaningless game. We need to win the damn game tomorrow and then take advantage of whatever pitcher they use on Sunday. The Yanks can pull off a win against the O's. They face Miley tomorrow.

STLJaysFan Verified Member Posted October 1, 2016 Posted October 1, 2016 Texas has clinched home field throughout entire playoffs including world series because of the stupid all-star game.
Atlas Verified Member Posted October 1, 2016 Posted October 1, 2016 I thought I already heard that Farrell is pitching Price Sunday no matter what. It keeps him on his regular rest schedule, and sets him up perfectly for game 2 of the ALDS. What a huge, ironic blow up in your face that scenario could turn out to be for the Jays decision makers. The big pitcher you decided NOT to go after ends up being the guy who eliminates you from getting into the post-season.

Imagine the Orioles burning Tillman or the Tigers Verlander... those teams are not very deep sp wise. Both team's starting pitching depths are not that deep. However, Tigers have more options (Verlander, Fulmer, Zimmermann, Daniel Norris, Matt Boyd, Mike Pelfrey, Anibal Sanchez) than the O's (Tillman, Gausman, Gallardo, Miley, Bundy)

STLJaysFan Verified Member Posted October 1, 2016 Posted October 1, 2016 Farrell and Price can both f*** the Jays over! Plus Orioles and Rangers both in the playoffs would be a big middle finger to Toronto. Odor punches Bautista and the Rangers win their division while he and the Blue Jays whimper off into the off-season.

STLJaysFan Verified Member Posted October 1, 2016 Posted October 1, 2016 I've been a Blue Jays fan since 1999 here in St. Louis (long story), and even if they fall out of the playoffs on the last day of the season, to me it's still better than not even following baseball in August and September like I'm used to doing. Delgado's 4 home runs against the Rays in September? The Blue Jays typical 7 or 8 game winning streak at the end of the year to make their record look better than it really was, all too little too late! I'll take a collapse in Boston the last series of the season versus barely checking the box scores the last 50 games of the season and not recognizing half the players since they're all call-ups. s***, I remember when it was considered a failure if the Leafs didn't at least make it to the second round, now I'm happy if they can even play meaningful hockey in March and April.
ChrisS Verified Member Posted October 1, 2016 Posted October 1, 2016 Imagine on Sunday night if the Jays, Os and Mariners are all tied with Detroit one back. Alot of people are going to be tuning into that make up game.
