Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted September 29, 2016 Posted September 29, 2016 Really unorthodax but I'd have Estrada/Happ piggyback with Stroman. This game is twice as important as any of those Red Sox games. *unorthodox*

ComeTogether Verified Member Posted September 29, 2016 Posted September 29, 2016 If the Os win tomorrow night you can almost forget about a WC game at Rogers center I think they can win a few games in Boston. Sox lost 2 straight to NYY already.
Grant77 Old-Timey Member Posted September 29, 2016 Posted September 29, 2016 This loss hurts us even more knowing it very well may have cost us a division title as well as position in the WC.

King Old-Timey Member Posted September 29, 2016 Posted September 29, 2016 You are a true living piece of s***, and I can't fathom ever breathing air beside you, douche. Yes, you are the prick you sought yourself becoming, *******. You're the worst, and a chick in real life, ya pussy. Rekt
King Old-Timey Member Posted September 29, 2016 Posted September 29, 2016 According to the imbecile who manages this team, your closer should be in a 4 run game. Brutal
Grant77 Old-Timey Member Posted September 29, 2016 Posted September 29, 2016 How you handling this Red Sox AL East title? I'm disgusted with this team and disgusted for the game of baseball in general. It's a disgrace that no one should have to live with.

Olerud363 Old-Timey Member Posted September 29, 2016 Posted September 29, 2016 Morons, mate, it's depressing folk act like this. The issue at times like these isn't just the loss... it's the other factors, the depleted bullpen, and the frustration with Gibbons, and the frustration with two players getting injured in a fight. Are people putting to much emphasis on the depleted bullpen?? Maybe. It is hard to figure out how the Jays win a non-blowout game tomorrow. I guess it involves Stroman going deep and Biaginni. Anyway just keep in mind, mentally people have the Jays down their best 3 relievers tomorrow, Benoit obviously won't pitch, Osuna and Grilli are running on fumes and shouln't pitch, if they do who knows what they'll have.
Olerud363 Old-Timey Member Posted September 29, 2016 Posted September 29, 2016 We really need Osuna last night guys, totally not Gibbons fault. If things go really bad, they ended last night, when Gibbons put in Osuna with a four run lead.
Olerud363 Old-Timey Member Posted September 29, 2016 Posted September 29, 2016 Brutal Incredibly frustrating... the bullpen is tired as hell because of Gibbons using his best relievers when he doesn't need too.
ChrisS Verified Member Posted September 29, 2016 Posted September 29, 2016 If things go really bad, they ended last night, when Gibbons put in Osuna with a four run lead. Problem is, if Grilli comes in last night and gives up 4 runs in the 9th, everyone would be saying it was Gibbys fault. I agree he is poor at managing the bullpen, but to blow 3 saves in 4 opportunities is unacceptable. Tomorrows game is a must win game, by far the biggest game of the year. A win and we can rest a few key players at some point in the weekend and hopefully line up Sanchez for Tuesday. A loss and there is a real possibility we miss out on the wildcard game all together, let alone hosting it. I could easily see Detroit sweeping Atlanta and Baltimore sweeping the Yankees. I hope we dont see anyone besides Biagini, Cecil and maybe Estrada/Happ out of the bullpen.

Shouldn't one of these guys be a reasonable choice to pitch in a 4 run game?? I guess Gibbons explanation is that he'd warm up Osuna anyway...

They should be used only in low leverage situations, Barnes vs lefties but Id rather use Cecil anyways. The way this team has been playing in late innings recently Im not even sure a 4 run lead in the 9th qualifies as low leverage.
intentional wok Old-Timey Member Posted September 29, 2016 Posted September 29, 2016 I can't believe people are second guessing not bringing Tepera into Tuesday's 9th. Would Kim have put up a shittier AB if Osuna was one day fresher? Was Betances just tired on Sunday having not pitched in three days, or did people give the Blue Jays credit for being tough outs? Give Kim an ounce of credit. Schoop too for getting on base by flicking Osuna's gameplan against him -- I mean everyone's always bleating about the Jays doing that, right? Go oppo on strong arms who won't give inner half? But no, baseless assumptions about fatigue for miles. Only the Blue Jays can lose a game, the other team can't win it.

Osuna will also not be available tonight... He ended pitching in four of 5 days, results and (maybe) velocity have been down lately. He may have pitched a bit better if he was fresher, we don't know.
CHRIS Verified Member Posted September 29, 2016 Posted September 29, 2016 I actually feel a bit bad for Gibbons here. He's had a very inconsistent bullpen for most of the year, and Cecil is now just starting to turn around (it seems). It seems easy to give him grief for bringing in Osuna in a four-run game, however he saw his team as recently as a few days ago get blitzed in the 9th with Grilli, Barnes, etc., and I can see how he would be tempted to "ensure" the win against our closest competitor by going to Osuna (and hoping for an offensive breakout the next day). For me, the biggest thing that bugs me about Gibbons is his claim that if he gets a guy warm, he has to bring him in. Except when that guy is Grilli. Or Cecil. Or anybody else other than Osuna. If it were me managing, I probably would have gone with Cecil in game 1 and had Osuna warming, without committing to using him just because he was up. That said, I also don't have the pressure of being the manager on a team trying to eke its way through a terrible September.
saskjayfan Old-Timey Member Posted September 29, 2016 Posted September 29, 2016 We need to lean on Cecil. He's given up runs in something like runs in 2 of his last 25 appearances. His season started with him coming off an injury and he had the mid season set back, but he's rolling now. If Cecil isn't closing tonight if there is an opportunity I will be upset. His career righty lefty splits as a reliever are very good. He's being used like a lefty specialist. He's more than that.
