Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted October 2, 2016 Posted October 2, 2016 I think the team that we're playing matters a lot in a 1-game sudden death. Stroman has been bad against Orioles. I'd rather go with Liriano/Happ/Estrada and give Stroman game 1 of the ALDS.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted October 2, 2016 Posted October 2, 2016 The Orioles have trouble against lefties. Either Liriano or Happ on short rest might be the best way to go.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted October 2, 2016 Posted October 2, 2016 I'm confident in our rotation regardless who pitches. I just hope the bats and bullpen perform.
thatoneguy Old-Timey Member Posted October 2, 2016 Posted October 2, 2016 Toss up between Liriano and Stroman. Former has the experience and is filthy when he has control (I really don't want to see a bunch of walks against a home run heavy lineup like the Orioles at the dome), but it's hard not to give Stroman the shot when he basically lives and breathes for this kind of thing.
Grant77 Old-Timey Member Posted October 2, 2016 Posted October 2, 2016 Stroman would be such a monster as a reliever in the playoffs.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted October 2, 2016 Posted October 2, 2016 Its projected to be 19 on Tuesday so good chance the roof will be open. The ball flies better with it open. So I'm sure that plays a factor in the pitcher selection.
jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted October 2, 2016 Posted October 2, 2016 I wouldnt mind giving Lirano the start, dude dominated the same team a week ago. I really don't trust anyone in the bullpen aside from Osuna anyway. Stroman giving us 2 innings down there could be huge
THANOS Old-Timey Member Posted October 2, 2016 Posted October 2, 2016 Stroman would be such a monster as a reliever in the playoffs. Not sure about that. He loves to P2C which is treacherous in the BP.

A combination of Francisco and Stroman could workout nicely.
Slade Old-Timey Member Posted October 2, 2016 Posted October 2, 2016 Should be either Liriano or Happ, we need to neutriize Baltimores good lefties.
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted October 3, 2016 Posted October 3, 2016 If this is Gibby's choice it might be Stroman
STLJaysFan Verified Member Posted October 3, 2016 Posted October 3, 2016 f***in MLB will probably close the dome for the playoffs like they seem to do with every playoff team that has a retractable roof no whether what the weather is outside. It SHOULD be the home team's decision, that's what home field advantage means.
Frenchsoup Verified Member Posted October 3, 2016 Posted October 3, 2016 I think Stro can handle these guys.
Governator Community Moderator Posted October 3, 2016 Posted October 3, 2016 Stroman too inconsistent for me. And Baltimore has roughed up Stro all year. I'm now thinking Liriano. He just shut then down in to the 7th his last game with 10Ks. He's a veteran, has pitched in the postseason and probably less likely to get rattled with the game pressure.
Frenchsoup Verified Member Posted October 3, 2016 Posted October 3, 2016 Stroman too inconsistent for me. Very inconsistent, but he's a bulldog. He'll go all 9 if he has to. I just wish he would simplify even more.
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted October 3, 2016 Posted October 3, 2016 Everything here points to Liriano but Gibby will want stroshow
Frenchsoup Verified Member Posted October 3, 2016 Posted October 3, 2016 And I'll support Gibbons for that decision.
Frenchsoup Verified Member Posted October 3, 2016 Posted October 3, 2016 Don't f*** around here boys. Who would you send out.
Grant77 Old-Timey Member Posted October 3, 2016 Posted October 3, 2016 Not sure about that. He loves to P2C which is treacherous in the BP. I think that could change as a reliever. Russ Martin knows what he's doing.
Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted October 3, 2016 Posted October 3, 2016 Don't f*** around here boys. Who would you send out. Id start Stroman with Liriano or Estrada ready quickly when needed.
Governator Community Moderator Posted October 3, 2016 Posted October 3, 2016 Could piggy back Liriano twice through the order than Stro. That was discussed here before. I don't like either seeing the O's a 3rd time through.
Frenchsoup Verified Member Posted October 3, 2016 Posted October 3, 2016 Id start Stroman with Liriano or Estrada ready quickly when needed. I feel like you have a quicker trigger then Gibby

Frenchsoup Verified Member Posted October 3, 2016 Posted October 3, 2016 This poll is old and useless
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted October 3, 2016 Posted October 3, 2016 Jays will never run Liriano out there. If they do and he shits the bed, the casuals will flip out. Putting Stroman out there, if he shits the bed, the angst is on Stro. One eye on winning, one eye on the bottom line.

The simple goal in these games is to win.
Frenchsoup Verified Member Posted October 3, 2016 Posted October 3, 2016 So who on the Blue Jays is the best pitcher?

Putting Stroman out there, if he shits the bed, the angst is on Stro. One eye on winning, one eye on the bottom line. That just doesn't make sense. It's perfectly justifiable throwing Liriano and Barry Davis can explain it to the casuals.
