canadiansportsjunkie Verified Member Posted September 26, 2016 Posted September 26, 2016 I think it will be close but if Joey keeps being clutch that does matter...it's possible Joey gets more per year but Edwin longer contract...not saying I would do it I would give Edwin close to 20 million for 3-5 years Joey close to 20 for 2 years FYI Not just talking Jays and how they fit just contract
BlueRocky Old-Timey Member Posted September 26, 2016 Posted September 26, 2016 I would love for Edwin to stay, but the chances of another team overpaying is likely. Wouldn't be surprised if both walk and we get picks
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted September 26, 2016 Posted September 26, 2016 Possible destinations for Edwin: Boston, White Sox, KC, Texas, Houston, Seattle? NL teams like the Mets and Cardinals could also try and sign him
Governator Community Moderator Posted September 26, 2016 Posted September 26, 2016 Possible destinations for Edwin: Boston, White Sox, KC, Texas, Houston, Seattle? NL teams like the Mets and Cardinals could also try and sign him I think the Rangers will be a real player with Fielder done. Are the White Sox competitive enough to sign him? Mariners have Cruz another 2 years but that would be the scariest combo in baseball if they signed him. I just don't see them using Cruz in RF much going forward and they got the 2nd most wRC+ in baseball out of their DH spot this year.
puphood Verified Member Posted September 26, 2016 Posted September 26, 2016 EE can play first base and proved it this year. Is he the best no. Is he the worst no. But he is serviceable with ability to produce 30+ HR's and 100 + RBI. JB is at 20 HR with a short season with a minor injury plagued year and has shown again he is a clutch hitter. JB will get better than qualifying offers but I doubt he will sign with the Jays. The front office signed Smoak for a reason and I think it was because they wouldn't commit seriously to EE.........

NL teams like the Mets and Cardinals could also try and sign him Boston for sure. Doubt the White Sox would be interested. KC won't have the money. Texas is definitely a possibility with Fielder gone. I don't think the Astros will be heavily interested, same with the Mariners who already have Cruz who they rotate between RF and DH already as is. NL teams that could be interested include: Nationals, Mets, Cardinals, and maybe the Dodgers depending on if they move from A-Gon.
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted September 26, 2016 Posted September 26, 2016 What Dominican player wouldn't love having Adrian Beltre as a teammate?
TholesWeirdEye Verified Member Posted September 26, 2016 Posted September 26, 2016 EE would demand more money for sure.
WONDERBAT Verified Member Posted September 29, 2016 Posted September 29, 2016 Boston is going to overpay for sure.
TorontonianJD Verified Member Posted September 30, 2016 Posted September 30, 2016 EE at the end of the game...in the dugout. He looked a bit sentimental and even emotional. Made some motion with his hand/finger in a circular motion. Almost like "thanks everyone".
justafan Verified Member Posted September 30, 2016 Posted September 30, 2016 I think both are gone. EE is by far the better long term deal. JB might get a 3 yr $60m but I doubt it. EE should get 5 yr 90-100m. Teams are looking for a slugger. IMHO.
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted September 30, 2016 Posted September 30, 2016 Boston is going to overpay for sure. Boston is not a team that needs EE It will be Angels or Whitesox etc.

Horses Fart Old-Timey Member Posted September 30, 2016 Posted September 30, 2016 Just wondering why we can keep at least one? Is the money a factor?
Olerud363 Old-Timey Member Posted September 30, 2016 Posted September 30, 2016 Just wondering why we can keep at least one? Is the money a factor? More Shapiro's philosaphy... not sure if he wants to spend big money on a declining asset. It is an interesting question though... because if another smart team, like the Red Sox think he's worth 100 million... why do the Blue Jays think he is not. It makes sense to me that he is not, but why would one smart organization be willing to pay?? And another not?? I guess the sox theoretically might have a higher payroll.
