TheGrandslamMan Verified Member Posted August 4, 2016 Posted August 4, 2016 Martin was a big part of the victory today fellas. I think he framed at least 10-12 balls for strikes tonight... And in a close game that's a huge deal breaker for the Stro's. God, it's so nice having a good catcher after years of Zaun, JPA, Navarro, Myers ETC.
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted August 4, 2016 Posted August 4, 2016 https://www.google.ca/flights/ You would be amazed at how easy it is to find cheap flights, off to Thailand in 3 weeks for $900 return. I've been to Thailand. I was fairly young, so don't remember everything. Things of note: 1) It was jarring seeing so many people begging in the streets in Bangkok (I think it was leprosy that was an issue for many of them). 2) The cab drivers are f***ing insane. We literally got air off a couple bridges at about 150 kph. 3) The trainers putting on alligator shows have short lifespans. 4) You could get amazing deals from the street vendors in the tourist areas. 5) I remember seeing the hotel we had stayed at when the tsunami footage was being shown on the air.

West Texas Forever Old-Timey Member Posted August 4, 2016 Posted August 4, 2016 I've been too England x2... France... Switzerland... Holland... Spain... Italy, etc, etc, not to mention the zillion places through NA. It takes, a lot of f***ing time. I'm 43 you're now 28, and it's still not possible, unless, you're filthy rich. I bought my condo years ago pre-construction so I saved money there, drive a 10 year old car paid off, have a low mortgage that is less than what I was paying in rent, been with my company since I was 19 years old, it is a union paid position so salary increase each year is good and honestly besides partying the only thing I spend my money on is traveling, plus the lady chips in on the monthly cost of running a place so I have even more money to play with. Although I tip my cap to my parents whom paid for my college/books/rent so I had no OSAP loans so without that help I doubt I'd be where I am now.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted August 4, 2016 Posted August 4, 2016 The amount of OT/Holidays that I work is how I manage, I bank it in lieu time, I haven't had Christmas/New Years off in years, throw in any other holiday and I make my 4 weeks vacation turn into 6 weeks. In lieu, only lasts so long, you're forced to use it. At 28 you have no where near 6 weeks, stop it.

If I work a stat holiday which is an 8 hour shift I get 12 hours of lieu, do that, we have 11 stat days I think in Ontario = 12 hours per worked lieu x 11 stat days worked = 132 hours divide by 8 hour work days = 16 days off plus my 20 days of actual vacation as you can see you can stretch it out if you want, others prefer the OT money but I just take the time off.

intentional wok Old-Timey Member Posted August 4, 2016 Posted August 4, 2016 I missed the last three innings of this but I'm glad to see a win. I'm hoping tomorrow's game has at least an atom of entertainment to it though.

Sportsnet/CTV/Fan590, etc, etc, sorry, this still does not respect the time you claim to have and all the places you go. Sorry, I'll never believe a TV tech can do this, sorry.
o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted August 4, 2016 Posted August 4, 2016 I'm 28 and I get 5 weeks... I think it's sick that there are people in North America who still only get 2 weeks.... thats brutal and part of why so many people break down. It's always the really s***** no pay jobs too.

It's against the law to do that. And where do you get 12 of lieu? Also the rest of your staff allows you to do that?

Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted August 4, 2016 Posted August 4, 2016 I'm 28 and I get 5 weeks... I had 6 weeks at 28, it's possible, if you advance through your profession. Even then I couldn't afford to go anywhere I wanted at the drop of a hat.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted August 4, 2016 Posted August 4, 2016 Spanky so jealous of WTF. Not at all, I'm jelly of anyone working, meat.
West Texas Forever Old-Timey Member Posted August 4, 2016 Posted August 4, 2016 It's against the law to do that. How so? If you have Canada Day off right and it's a Monday but I come into work while you have the day off because you always have the weekends off (shift workers never have a mon-fri schedule) I can either claim the OT money or take the 12 hours in lieu and use it up and then load back up on lieu time as the year goes on.
o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted August 4, 2016 Posted August 4, 2016 Sounds like I need to move to Canada or Europe here it's law that you get 5 weeks paid on any permanent job. Last year I worked I had 5 weeks plus 8*8 that could be taken as pay, days or hours. Union wanted everyone to take the time off because if people just take pay companies wont give more time off because it's cheaper to raise wages. It is also law that you have the right to take 4 weeks in a row between 1st June and end of August. A lot of companies just close up for a few weeks during the summer.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted August 4, 2016 Posted August 4, 2016 It's against the law to do that. There is easy ways to make it look not against the law. Technically you're not allowed to work 7 days a week. But I worked 26 consecutive days. My hours were just reallocated to look like I had days off.
o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted August 4, 2016 Posted August 4, 2016 Not at all, I'm jelly of anyone working, meat. I'll agree with this 100% I'd trade the pain, the FKing meds and being home for 40 hours a week any day, but that's just not reality.
