Governator Community Moderator Posted June 4, 2016 Posted June 4, 2016 Pffft I wouldn't say it's boring to hockey fans. Hockey is my #1, baseball is #3. Still love the game of ball though. The casual Jay's fan is a hockey fan and has a hard time enjoying 9 innings of baseball.
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted June 4, 2016 Posted June 4, 2016 Get em tomorrow boys and win the series.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted June 4, 2016 Posted June 4, 2016 Baseball is boring to hockey fans, we probably have to let in cowbells to stop it. Pardon?
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted June 4, 2016 Posted June 4, 2016 Well, I hoped for 2/3.. and off to Detroit we go, as tomorrow's game is certain to be rained out.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted June 4, 2016 Posted June 4, 2016 It's a legitimate question at this point. He has the team's highest BABIP, 2nd worst K/9 ratio, 2nd most home runs allowed and worst ERA. However his xFIP and SIERA are actually very good, which I think supports what most on here have been saying i.e. that his whole "pitch to contact" approach is s***ing the bed big time and given his talent utterly unnecessary. He needs to go and reinvent himself; a few extra days rest are not changing this problem. http://www.fangraphs.com/leaders.aspx?pos=all&stats=sta&lg=all&qual=0&type=1&season=2016&month=0&season1=2016&ind=0&team=14&rost=0&age=0&filter=&players=0&sort=20,d He changed his approach today and it didn't really do much, he was actually worse than usual. His command is the biggest factor for his success.
intentional wok Old-Timey Member Posted June 4, 2016 Posted June 4, 2016 Eh, a loss is a loss. Getting yesterday's underdog matchup makes this loss a push for me. No biggie, though I was hoping to see some encouraging things from Stroman.
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted June 4, 2016 Posted June 4, 2016 I'm still laughing at Gibby bringing the infield in early in the game and pitching to Ortiz with first base open.
jaysguy44 Old-Timey Member Posted June 4, 2016 Posted June 4, 2016 I'm still laughing at Gibby bringing the infield in early in the game and pitching to Ortiz with first base open. Such a joke

intentional wok Old-Timey Member Posted June 4, 2016 Posted June 4, 2016 Jays weren't hitting much today anyway. 6-4 makes it seem like it was a more contested game than it was. Don't forget that two runs scored on a damn strikeout + passed ball + no coverage circus play.
nextyear Verified Member Posted June 4, 2016 Posted June 4, 2016 I'm still laughing at Gibby bringing the infield in early in the game and pitching to Ortiz with first base open. Yes, both were head shakers. Also Martin not getting the fairly easy tag down (by just dropping his glove in front of the plate) cost a run. The Blue Jays needed to be almost perfect in the field, but it is conceivable that they could have been up by a run going into the bottom of the 9th.
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted June 4, 2016 Posted June 4, 2016 Tomorrow's game should be a good one. I like the pitching matchup for us. Assuming Donaldson plays we can put 8 righties in there against Rodriguez who is making only his 2nd start of the year.

Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted June 4, 2016 Posted June 4, 2016 Demote Stroman and pitch Hutch Monday against the Tigers.

Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted June 4, 2016 Posted June 4, 2016 The forecast is pretty bad for tomorrow. Yeah it does look iffy. Still a decent chance they get the game in with the early start time.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted June 4, 2016 Posted June 4, 2016 Demote Stroman and pitch Hutch Monday against the Tigers. stop
intentional wok Old-Timey Member Posted June 4, 2016 Posted June 4, 2016 Demote Stroman and pitch Hutch Monday against the Tigers. Good idea, maybe even better than your suggestion of saving Osuna for today.
nextyear Verified Member Posted June 4, 2016 Posted June 4, 2016 I just recalled how Smoak hit a ball down the right field line that was within a foot of being fair. There were two runners on at the time and it could have led to at least two more runs for the Blue Jays. That's baseball, it is a game of inches at times.
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted June 4, 2016 Posted June 4, 2016 Good idea, maybe even better than your suggestion of saving Osuna for today. Nice burn

It probably would have been a ground-rule double, so only 1 run. But that, and the garbage overturned call at home, and Stroman pitching to Ortiz with 2 RISP and 1st base open is the difference in the game.
intentional wok Old-Timey Member Posted June 4, 2016 Posted June 4, 2016 Nice burn I like Jonn. I just don't know WTF he was doing complaining about wasting Osuna in last night's game.
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted June 5, 2016 Posted June 5, 2016 I like Jonn. I just don't know WTF he was doing complaining about Osuna coming into last night's game. Yeah I like him too he has kind of momentarily lost his marbles though.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted June 5, 2016 Posted June 5, 2016 Can't wait to see the definitive angle video on MLB.com for the play at home. I really want to see what video angles the umps used to determine Swihart was safe.

Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted June 5, 2016 Posted June 5, 2016 Do they post this info? Yes. MLB posts the video angles that were used to overturn the call. They post the videos for every call confirmed or overturned. http://m.mlb.com/video/search?query=definitive+angle
bones10 Old-Timey Member Posted June 5, 2016 Posted June 5, 2016 Missed most of the game today.. Stroman is honestly trash we need to reconsider our expectations.
