When the Yankees and Blue Jays take the field at Yankee Stadium on Thursday at 4:05 ET, New York alignment will almost certainly be one step closer to full health.

Joe Girardi of the Yankees said Wednesday that the veteran slugger Alex Rodriguez will be activated from the disabled list 15 days to meet with the club on Thursday. On the disabled list since May 3 because of a strained right thigh, Rodriguez began a period of rehabilitation Trenton at Double-A on Tuesday and homered for the Thunder as part of an effort to 2-1 Wednesday night.

"It looks pretty good," Girardi said Wednesday. "I'm thinking activation, and will play tomorrow."

While Rodriguez plays, his return will be against a team with which he is quite familiar. 240 A-Rod starts against Toronto is the third-most against any team, and his 58 homers are fourth most against any outfit.

What you should know about this game

• The lefty JA Happ will take the mound for the Blue Jays, hoping to return to his early season form. Happ, who is 5-2 with a 3.43 ERA, has allowed 11 earned runs in his 22 season in his last two starts. Before those outings, Happ was 5-0 with 2.05 ERA.

• Happ made a start against the Yankees at the beginning of the season, closing with six innings of a career. It is 2-0 with 2.95 ERA in his last three starts against the Yankees.

• In his second start for the Yankees since coming off the disabled list with a strained left groin will be CC Sabathia, hoping to keep the slot built before and after passing through the DL. During his last two starts, separated by 16 days, Sabathia has allowed just one run in 13 innings, with 14 strikeouts against only nine hits and three walks.

LETS GO BLUE JAYS *CLAP, CLAP* *CLAP, CLAP, CLAP*

2/3 would be very nice. Hopefully our LHP bashers are out in full force today!

Hopefully we get Tulo back for tommorow.

Yeah, looking forward to that. He is really swinging it much better and we need to keep him rollin'

Want to see the T n T combo up the middle.

Easy win today. Happ is pitching like s***, but today is his day.

8 out of 9 quality starts. Yeah, he's pitching like s***.

Don't usually watch the pre-game show, looks like Zaun is as dumb as ever.

Jaimie spilled the beans regarding Zaun's dream of managing the Jays.
