burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted May 3, 2016 Posted May 3, 2016 Pillar has now moved into a tie for 2nd on the Blue Jays in WAR with 0.8. Nice to see him getting it going at least.
TheGrandslamMan Verified Member Posted May 3, 2016 Posted May 3, 2016 There was nothing wrong with Floyd being in the game at that point. That he happened to give up the winning run doesn't change that. Isn't he on the roster to account for the mop-up man role and to act as SP depth? If you're in a tie game in the 8th at home then theres no reason not to go to one of your set-up men. I get that Floyd had a quick appearance in the 7th but that shouldn't change the strategy.
BlueJayWay Verified Member Posted May 3, 2016 Posted May 3, 2016 Is it a mental issue or just bad luck or bad managing? Maybe combination of everything. Honestly, I've been trying to figure this out for years. Results in one run games is supposed to be more luck than skill, which is why you can't predict how a team will do in those games...except the Jays, who've been bad for a decade and a half in them.
Pendleton Old-Timey Member Posted May 3, 2016 Posted May 3, 2016 I think he was wayyy back in the day with the Dodgers. Could be wrong though. ....not that i think he's about to be suspended for PED use though. http://espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=4505639 You're right, faced questions from reporters in 2009.
TheGrandslamMan Verified Member Posted May 3, 2016 Posted May 3, 2016 he is only 33 for Gods Sakes. He was 32 last year, thats not old. Getting older for a catcher.
BlueJayWay Verified Member Posted May 3, 2016 Posted May 3, 2016 This idiotic stat is exacerbated by how good the offense is. They lose more 1-run games than they win because of their ability to blow up the other team's staff. Wins are usually by multiple runs rather than by 1, which is how every fan should want it. The 1-run losses are all that remain. This is not true. If you look at teams with really good offenses throughout history, they don't have a tendency to be bad in one run games. Also it's kind of funny how narratives go. I remember the 2008 Jays team which had terrific pitching, and couldn't hit. That team, as usual, was bad in one run games (24-32) and the reason people put forth was that their weak offense "always just came up short."
TheGrandslamMan Verified Member Posted May 3, 2016 Posted May 3, 2016 Cecil? Good one bro. He woulda gave up a grand slam with the way he's been pitching lately. You gotta ride it out

Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted May 3, 2016 Posted May 3, 2016 To be clear, I never started the rumor about Martin and PEDs. I did hear that there is a Blue Jay who tested positive and is currently going through the appeal process. Another poster named Martin as the rumoured Jay. If you know there is another you should be able to get a name...right?

The last time I saw a source being right here on this board was..never I do remember on the original blue jay forum someone was able to give us details that Aaron Hill was traded.

Nothing because I haven't been communicating with this person long-term. They gave me some other Jays news before it became public so now I trust this person. The guy has connections to the Jays.

SP depth, sure. Mop-up role? No. Tepera can have that role. Floyd has been one of the few solid relievers to this point, so him entering a tie game late is perfectly fine.

HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted May 3, 2016 Posted May 3, 2016 Santos. Who leaked the Santos details? I can't recall that one :/
TorontonianJD Verified Member Posted May 3, 2016 Posted May 3, 2016 So who could be the Jay undergoing the appeals process? Sure hope it isn't JD!!!
TilsonBritoFan Verified Member Posted May 3, 2016 Posted May 3, 2016 So our bullpen, outside of Osuna, has got to be 0-10 or something like that? Horrible. I know our offense sucks but the pen can't hold off the opposing teams when we're tied or we have a lead. Seriously? This one is on the offense. Pen could have shut Rangers out and we'd still be playing right now in 16th inning.
Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted May 3, 2016 Posted May 3, 2016 So who could be the Jay undergoing the appeals process? Sure hope it isn't JD!!! Based on frustration level during games Martin or Bautista?, based on abnormal growth...Sanchez?

We could afford to be s***** with guys like Todd Redmond, Colt Hynes and Miguel Castro when the offense was clicking from the get go so people didn't take much notice. The waste of a year of service time on Osuna/Castro was probably a bigger story than their results at the time.
