By all rights, he should be optioned when Travis comes back but on a team where clubhouse seniority seems to drive decisions more than strategy, he probably stays.

2013 Brandon Phillips: 90 wRC+, 2.5 WAR

2015 Addison Russell: 90 wRC+, 2.9 WAR

2015 DJ LeMahieu: 89 wRC+, 1.9 WAR

Last year Goins got 84 wRC+, but his ceiling is between 60-70 ala Pokey Reese, Chris Getz, Eric Sogard, Enrique Wilson

2015 he had a 9% BB rate in 400 PAs. That became a huge part of whatever offensive value he had.

 

Its like he forget that and same as Pillar now thinks he is a good hitter - chasing a ton out balls out of the zone.

 

Combine that with a pretty avg mitt 2016 and it screams one word..."Devon"

Where is this elite defense? He's clearly not elite. At best he's above average at second and average at short.
