I was a Sanchez non-believer, but if he proves me wrong and becomes an ace, or even a solid MLB starter, I'll be thrilled.

It's when I'm wrong the other way (expect greatness, get a dud) where I get pissed.

More Sanchez starts with 0 walks, tons of GB's, and a good K rate? Bring it on.

You weren't really wrong though because you never stated that Sanchez would be bad. That's the good thing about making non-definitive statements on things that are unknowns.

You'd bump into trouble if you, say, started bragging about how great JP Arencibia is after he has a hot couple games and slamming people who weren't on the bandwagon.

16 whiffs tonight!

What's that, like 17% swstr?!

17.5%, absurd really

That's just insane..

It was a great start, but only one... lets not get the Cy Young votes going just yet.

No but that truly was like watching a butterfly hatch out of a caterpillar cocoon. He hatched into a completely different skill set. I think if you combine this performance with the spring, it's time to buy in, he's different and he looks to be legit. I mean a 17% SwStr% on this start as a whole is amazing.

His FIP, xFIP, K/9, BB/9, GB% should reveal all after the next few starts, but he really does look tremendous.

The changeup seems like the x-factor. We saw how great of a pitcher he can be if he can throw an effective changeup. Expecting this every outing would be silly but even with the command it is such a gamebreaker.

The slide pissed me the f*** off but seeing this Sanchez start makes me really excited for the Blue Jays rotation and season. If he can be a number 3 the Blue Jays look scary as hell.

If you want to go looking for bad things in Sanchez' start, a fair number of fastballs did completely get away from him. It's not like he had great command or anything. "Effectively wild" though.

the one over Longoria's head probably helped him get the out. lol

Tonight's Sanchez is the Sanchez we all hope to see as Jays fans.

Now I can't wait to wtach his next start, especially against a more potent offense like RedSux. It'll be telling.

Command, no, but he did have pretty good control. I think he doesn't need to have expert command as long as he can harness his control like tonight, and that change and curve continue to flash plus.

It was like either he hit the spot perfectly, or missed by a foot. There was a change that was supposed to be low that was out of the zone high IIRC.

7 of his whiffs came from the "4 seam". PitchFX does have different movement values and there was a two and a half inch difference in drop and 2 inch difference is horizontal movement. If he could use his 2 seam for GB and looking K's and his 4 seam for whiffs it could be like adding another pitch.

Aaron Sanchez has a tail to his fastball that is unique; the gap between it and his breaking ball and the spin it creates is special

Aaron Sanchez has no ceiling. He has all the tools to become a number one starter. He is a special kid

I still find it amazing how simply adding some weight to his frame balanced out his mechanics so much to allow for this type of metamorphosis.

The best thing about this performance is you just know that Stroman is dying to try and top it now lol. Their friendly competition is going to be great this season!

Its going to be awhile before guys like NJH Boxy Ang come around on Sanchez, they've spent so much effort providing information that he is destined to fail. But to be honest, more often than not, said information is usually correct when projecting guys going forward. That said, it really is starting to appear that Sanchez might be turning into something pretty decent, lets just refrain from the "I told you so" BS, as it really is exhausting to read over and over.
