Laika Community Moderator Posted April 6, 2016 Posted April 6, 2016 I still find it amazing how simply adding some weight to his frame balanced out his mechanics so much to allow for this type of metamorphosis. Well if we're being sensible, it probably didn't. Need a much larger sample
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted April 6, 2016 Posted April 6, 2016 This makes me remember this game: http://m.mlb.com/video/v31780897/tortb-buehrle-dominates-rays-fans-11-over-8-23/?query=Mark+Buehrle+rays ummmm...why?
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted April 6, 2016 Posted April 6, 2016 Its going to be awhile before guys like NJH Boxy Ang come around on Sanchez, they've spent so much effort providing information that he is destined to fail. But to be honest, more often than not, said information is usually correct when projecting guys going forward. That said, it really is starting to appear that Sanchez might be turning into something pretty decent, lets just refrain from the "I told you so" BS, as it really is exhausting to read over and over. Yeah, because I'm going to be absolutely devastated if Sanchez becomes a great pitcher for my favourite team. You know, cuz I'm just that petty.
Cyborg Verified Member Posted April 6, 2016 Posted April 6, 2016 ummmm...why? Season opening series vs. Rays. Low SwStr pitcher. Miraculously K's everyone and gets whiffs (12).

Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted April 6, 2016 Posted April 6, 2016 pretty sure you didnt read my comment correctly as your response to it doesnt quite make sense with respect to what I was saying I've never once said he's destined to fail. That would be stupid.

Maybe I'm lumping you with the wrong crowd, but I thought I read numerous posts from you projecting he more than likely will not succeed as a starter given his medicore MiLB numbers

Apologies for the wording, my point still stands, one start aint gonna change your mind about him unless you all of sudden view SSS as viable projections going forward
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted April 6, 2016 Posted April 6, 2016 The backpedalling by Boxy and others is hilarious
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted April 6, 2016 Posted April 6, 2016 This was by far the best I've seen sanchize. Perhaps all that playoff pitching greatly improved his calmness as well.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted April 6, 2016 Posted April 6, 2016 One thing we leaned last night is.... Pedro Martinez is an awful scout.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted April 6, 2016 Posted April 6, 2016 I'm sure we can all agree that if Sanchez can give us 20+ starts as a level 2/3 caliber starter or better then this team is going to even harder to beat and we'll all be happy about that Then the tricky thing will be if/when to move him to the pen Gibby has said they will do this but deliberately did not say when they would or if they have a hard innings limit on him Anyway, can't wait to see his next few starts to see if he can keep this up
BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted April 6, 2016 Posted April 6, 2016 Impressive start. 0 BB and 8 K from Sanchez is not something I saw coming. It was fun to watch. Its just one start but its encouraging. Lets hope we shake off last night and hammer them this aft.
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted April 6, 2016 Posted April 6, 2016 aww s*** I forgot it was an afternoon game
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted April 6, 2016 Posted April 6, 2016 aww s*** I forgot it was an afternoon game And then an offday That's gonna feel like a long time with no game Winning today would help

Should have scored more yesterday. had runners on a few times and K'd their way out of scoring.
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted April 6, 2016 Posted April 6, 2016 MiLB stats are misleading Jesus Christ, you are such an idiot.
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted April 6, 2016 Posted April 6, 2016 Such anger in a thread that should be so positive after last nights outing by Sanchez.
BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted April 6, 2016 Posted April 6, 2016 Such anger in a thread that should be so positive after last nights outing by Sanchez. Yes. It's a shame. We shoulda known things would go bad when nails Cecil got touched.

HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted April 6, 2016 Posted April 6, 2016 thats just boxcar, he's always salty
Captain Adama Old-Timey Member Posted April 6, 2016 Posted April 6, 2016 Ultimately, losing one game has less impact than suddenly gaining an effective starter which is what seems to have happened with Sanchez. I think the one game should apply to Sanchez as well. I can only hope this continues, but for all we know it could've been just been a fluke start.

The previous ceiling on a a Sanchez start was one where he spaced out the walks and babiped his way to not giving up runs. The ceiling has moved. How consistently will he reach the ceiling he flashed last night? We still have no idea. There's plenty of tests to come, particularly against patient lineups. For all we know, this will never be repeated but Sanchez showed something last night that he had never shown before and that's obviously a good thing. Potentially, a great thing.
