On a related note, who pitches opening day?

I say Sanchez

Interesting question. I'd go:

Sanchez

Stroman

Happ

Estrada

Liriano

Right-hander Casey Lawrence will return to the Blue Jays on a minor league deal that includes a Spring Training invite, the club announced. Lawrence, who just turned 29, has spent his entire professional career with the Toronto organization but has yet to crack the big leagues. Working as a starter last year, splitting 162 frames about evenly between Double-A and Triple-A, he pitched to a 4.17 ERA with 6.0 K/9 against 2.1 BB/9.

Depth signing. Good.

So, why aren't the Jays making any effort to keep Benoit? has his injury scared them off?

How do you know they're not?

Barney coming back as a utility guy should be inevitable, no?

Projected to get $1.6m in arbitration so yes. He's better than Goins and can be an emergency LF too.

Probably will remain with us until Gurriel is ready.

I know he would cost more then Barney but would Sean Rodriguez be better option or seen as a upgrade?

Not sure he can play the MI anymore. His bat was awesome last year - but utter trash in all previous years. Unless he made some tangible changes to his approach/swing - I'd pass.

I don't see why we would be looking to upgrade on Barney. He's the right guy for our situation in my opinion and we should focus our resources elsewhere.

I read that he did make a change. Kind of the Dozier swing for the home run approach.

I'd rather have Barney as a backup. S Rod is terrible defensively.

Just spit ball'in really, was more curious what the BJMB had for opinions on him.

Plus Dude can play 7 different roles and if his bat stays hot or if he gets a Rogers Center bump yet on top of it.

But I can live with Barney on the team too.

We should probably have a look at him then if true - possibly as a fallback to Pearce. He played 3rd, SS, 2nd, 1st and all 3 OF positions last year while posting a 129 wRC+ and his defensive metrics weren't terrible. wRC+ of 153 vs. LHP last year.

I'm not sure I want him playing MI for an extended period, but if they think the swing change/bat are now for real - he's a solid target.

KEEGAN MATHESON NOVEMBER 16, 2016, 2:03 PM

Six of the Toronto Blue Jays’ minor-league prospects have been named to the roster of the Australian Baseball League’s Canberra Cavalry, who open the season Thursday night against the defending champion Brisbane Bandits.

Canadians Mike Reeves and Andrew Case will be joined by Josh DeGraaf, Jackson Lowery, Josh Almonte, and former first-round pick D.J. Davis.

You grabbed the wrong link but I might have to take some tums before considering Peavy as a target because of his spin rate.

The article suggested him as a reliever. Not a bad idea

I don't know why but I find Zwelling's voice annoying
