vilifyingforce Verified Member Posted August 29, 2016 Posted August 29, 2016 That's a good point. Then you auction them off afterwards (would work after the Canada day game probably...no idea why they even had the reds on the other day). They seem to go out an buy a lot of pink stuff for breast cancer month. SP picks the uni's. If not he cuts them all up with scissors.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted August 29, 2016 Posted August 29, 2016 That trade felt wrong from the moment it was announced, especially given that Hendriks had the same ability to act as a swingman. Bad move. Yeah, I didn't like it, but understood it.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted August 29, 2016 Posted August 29, 2016 Seems like Blair to me, if it was coming from somebody else the bolded above would be inside the quotation marks. Blair... click bait.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted August 29, 2016 Posted August 29, 2016 Big time We avoid Tillman and Bundy and they don't get to face Dickey or Liriano. We couldn't ask for a better set of pitching matchups against a team we could bury 4-6 games back with a good series Gausman... Tillman's on the DL.

Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted August 29, 2016 Posted August 29, 2016 So Those was DFA'd. Who's catching Dickey or have they said? DFA Dickey and call up Barnes! It's just one Dickey's start. 40 man roster near

Pendleton Old-Timey Member Posted August 30, 2016 Posted August 30, 2016 Is there any chance we swing a deal for a lefty reliever in the next couple days?
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted August 30, 2016 Posted August 30, 2016 Is there any chance we swing a deal for a lefty reliever in the next couple days? Our lefty reliever for the playoffs will be Liriano.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted August 30, 2016 Author Posted August 30, 2016 Our lefty reliever for the playoffs will be Liriano. Exactly Career vs Liriano RH batters OPS 0.719 LH batters OPS 0.596
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted August 30, 2016 Posted August 30, 2016 Our lefty reliever for the playoffs will be Liriano. That's right!
mellowgold Verified Member Posted August 30, 2016 Posted August 30, 2016 Exactly Career vs Liriano RH batters OPS 0.719 LH batters OPS 0.596 I still wouldn't mind a third lefty option to go with Cecil (brutal year) and Liriano (never really been a reliever and despite his solid splits is a pretty big question mark coming out of the pen). I would have to believe Shartkins agrees and are doing their due diligence.
mellowgold Verified Member Posted August 30, 2016 Posted August 30, 2016 Honestly I think we're better off with a slightly expanded bench come playoff time since we only need four starters anyway. I wouldn't mind a fifth bench piece instead of an eighth reliever. Osuna Grilli Ben wah Biagini Cecil Liriano Plus another lefty. I don't really trust anybody else we would have in that seventh spot right now. Schultz I guess would be the best option currently but I'd rather not have to watch him groove a fat meatball in October.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted August 30, 2016 Posted August 30, 2016 Don't need a lefty. Just pitch your best guys in the most high leverage spots. Live with the consequences.

Bench will include Smoak/Upton (whoever isn't starting), Barney, Carrera, Navarro? Who would you take in addition?
mellowgold Verified Member Posted August 30, 2016 Posted August 30, 2016 People forgetting Feldman? Haha yep, I did actually. I guess he's the seventh guy right now but he doesn't exactly instill a great deal of confidence.
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted August 30, 2016 Posted August 30, 2016 Haha yep, I did actually. I guess he's the seventh guy right now but he doesn't exactly instill a great deal of confidence. I think you need a mop up guy that can eat many innings. We have that in Biagini, but he has proven he can handle higher leverage, multiple inning situations

Yeah this is the problem. We don't exactly have a lot of options. Honestly though, I would include Pompey. He had a few absolutely crucial steals in the playoffs last year and if Upton is starting, we don't really have that element on the bench right now. But I think someone who can come in and steal a base when you need it would be a better piece than one of our AAAA relievers.

devo Verified Member Posted August 30, 2016 Posted August 30, 2016 Feldman has actually been decent over the past couple weeks. Basically what you expect out of your long man. Over his last 5 appearances: 7 IP, 8 H, 2 ER, 3 BB, 7 K, 0 HR
fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted August 30, 2016 Posted August 30, 2016 Loogy Loup! If we go with a 7 man pen in the post season, who would you take? I see: Osuna Grilli Benoit Biagini Cecil Feldman Liriano Assuming we go with a 5 man bench (Navarro, Smoak, Carerra, Barney, Goins/Pompey?). Or are we going with a 4 man bench and one of Loup/Barnes/Shultz in the pen?
