I don't know. Ortiz has been getting 16M. VMart similar.

Hard to see 25M for several.years.

What do you think is the max offer the Jays go to on EE? $20M x 3 +option year is sort of my thought but I don't know if Shatkins is comfortable paying that much.

I'd be fine with 4 years 80-90M max. Even then you're probably accepting ~ one risky year.

Just F.Y.I for Ya'll

BLUE JAYS NIGHT - The Regina Pats Hockey Club is proud to announce its game Friday, January 6, 2017 is Blue Jays Night presented by Bennett Dunlop Ford.

Canada’s oldest junior hockey team will honour Canada’s only Major League Baseball (MLB) team by wearing special edition Pats/Blue Jays jerseys for their matchup against the Calgary Hitmen. The jerseys went through an approval process with both Major League Baseball and the Toronto Blue Jays to ensure a faithful recreation of the Jays uniform in a hockey setting.

Those attending have the opportunity to take home one of the special edition jerseys through an auction-taking place the night of the game. Proceeds from the jersey auction support the Jays Care Foundation. For more information on the Jays Care Foundation, visit the Foundation’s website.

“We are very excited to have the opportunity to bring together the oldest brand in junior hockey with Canada’s only Major League Baseball team, the Toronto Blue Jays,” said Pats President Todd Lumbard. “This will be a night to remember for our fans who will have the chance to take home these one-of-a-kind jerseys.”

I thought that was great. He and Gibby handled that like pros. Nobody got choked and they are going to keep it in the clubhouse where it belongs. Next....

Gives Barry Davis the death stare and says "maybe that's none of your business" in a serious tone for like 5 seconds before answering the question. Gibby doesn't f*** around with the media LOL he's the man

Gibby honestly doesn't give a flying f***. I do love that about him. Old school. We could do a lot worse.

K question on EE contract.

Why is everyone in a hurry saying throw 20-25 mil and just get him signed? We will already be paying 20 Mil and year for Tulo and Martin. That's going to be 60 mil invested in 3 players and likely all be declining.

Wouldn't it just be smarter to let Bautista, Saunders and EE go and potentially have 4 first round picks(assuming they decline) then when the 2018 free agent market rolls around which is suppose to be a very good one fills holes through that. We will potentially have a couple studs on the cusp of the majors at that point as well.

You're assuming that those free agents won't re-sign with their team, and will want to sign in TO. You should never assume that; also remember that a lot of teams (Yankees, in particular) are honing in on that year's FA crop and Toronto is not a destination a lot of players want to come to.

Yup he's the perfect guy for the job. He's not the best tactitian but I doubt you can find a better people's guy than him which is what the team needs more imo. Plus he's ok with the higher ups telling him what to do or even players making changes. Makes for waaaay less drama than other big market teams

That would be a ground breaking deal for a DH. Would really open up the floodgates. I only see him getting that kind of money if a team views him as an everyday First Baseman. I wouldn't rule out National League teams looking for offense. We have seen much worse defenders play First Base and even the Outfield.

Yeah the talk of 100 million over 4 years is ridiculous. Agent will ask for 5 years and settle for 4 years. I'm going to predict 4 years 78 million.

I'd do that for EE knowing full well the last 2 years he probably won't be worth that AAV. It's doubtful Shapiro will do that deal, especially with people predicting the CDN dollar could fall to 65 cents come December.

Good point. How do teams see him? I agree he's a decent first baseman. That helps his case.

There's a reason guys like Fielder and Pujols tend to move to the AL. The DH spot serves as a soft landing place. Though they were both good defenders too at the time. Especially Pujols. But they weren't likwlt to get those super long deals without the DH badkup spot.

It can be ugly when guys have to play over their heads in the field. Like the last year Miggy had to play 3B. Or Trumbo in the OF.

What Edwin gets depends very much on what team has money and a need and if they have an.open DH spot or not.

Thing is he isn't bad defensively at 1st.

He certainly passes the eyeball test.

He has also averaged a better UZR-150 than Smoak over the past few years.

I wonder how active were going to be on the FA market vs the trade market. I mean the rotation and most of the pen is under contract for next year but we have holes if we don't resign any bats. If we don't resign Bautista I'd like to see Reddick and Moss come here through FA. I think Reddick in right and a platoon of Upton and Moss in left would be really nice. Really will be interesting to see how the trade market pans out this off season given this dry FA class
